That moment before near death is a crazy mfer the human mind is amazing. That "pinpoint focus" was his mind going directly to those thoughts from the past to find a way to save you

As someone who grew up in hawaii I don’t have any friends who haven’t almost died in the water at least once. I got saved by a surfer one time while getting dragged out after body surfing so I had no board to rest on I was just dog paddling at this point getting dragged out trying to stay up as long as possible, there was a surfer kind of close to me and I remember him asking if I needed help and me being a super stubborn young man I knew I needed help but was too hard headed to say yes so I said NO lol. I remember treading water for a little bit longer before going under and as soon as I went under this surfer reached down to bring me back up, he flopped me over his board and brought me back to shore where I was so toast I just flopped on the sand. There was another time I was drinking at the beach with my gf and friends I was only like 16 and had drank more beer than I had ever drank in my life so naturally I thought it was a good idea to go swim in the overhead surf smh. Bad idea! My stomach was so full of beer that I had to burp and become of me having to burp so bad I could barely catch my breath well of course I started getting hit by waves and pushed under when they broke on top of me, every time I resurfaced I had just a split second to catch any breath I could before the next wave pushed me under so every breath was getting smaller and smaller. I eventually made ur back to shore by my own power and had the best burp of my life
