[African Culture & Spirituality Vodun Voodoo] An African Naming Ceremony for a baby in Benin/West Africa
An African Naming ceremony is a moment of rejoicing for the family but its also a moment to welcome the baby into the family and is accompanied by spiritual rituals ordered for the welfare of the baby.
In general, every individual is identified by a name to be called. In African culture, it’s the same thing, but there is also a Traditional Naming Ceremony. The baby has its public name, but this name is not a random name, it’s a spiritual name very significant in one’s own language (African language), especially in the Vodun community…
This Traditional Naming Ceremony was held in the royal palace of his majesty DADA DAAGBO HOUNON HOUNA II, Supreme Spiritual Chief of Vodun Hwendo in Ouidah in Benin / West Africa.
This baby is the Granddaughter of his majesty DADA DAAGBO HOUNON HOUNA II.

2 years agoChristianity will die in Africa the way it has died in the lands of those who brought it.
In Africa we have spirituality and traditions.
We must rediscover our beliefs, traditions, customs and cultures, to help us find ourselves in this fast changing world.
The time is now, for those who are lost in the wilderness, it's time to make contacts with those who are still in touch with our Ancestors. That's the only way of Survival for Afrikans.

2 years agoAboru Aboye O…That which made for the success of those who went before, must be noted by those who come afterwards!!! Tomorrow the Baby will wake up with exactly what she needs for that day. May her life be clear and pure like water drawn early in the morning!!!. Much love & appreciation for this Video presentation Vodun Hwendo.

2 years agoQuestions family…I’m from Haiti 🇭🇹! If I want to do something like that for my baby, do I need to be from Africa to do it? I believe the ancestors can follow us everywhere we are. In Haiti we called upon the ancestors as well for guidance, but I’m not aware of such ceremony in my home country.
How many months old the baby needs to be before the ceremony can take place?
What country in Africa does the ceremony?
