Diana L. Hayes, J.D., Ph.D., S.T.D., is Emerita Professor of Systematic at Georgetown University, and sits on the Council of Elders of the Institute for African American Pastoral Leadership at School of . Dr. Hayes is the author/editor of 7 books: Trouble Don’t Last Always: Soul Prayers; And Still We Rise: An Introduction to Black Liberation , Hagar’s Daughters: Womanist Ways of Being in the World; Taking Down Our Harps: Black Catholics in the United States; Were You There?: Stations of the Cross; Many Faces of the Church and most recently Standing in the Shoes My Mother Made: A Womanist Theology as well as over 85 articles and book chapters. Her next book is Forged in the Fiery Furnace: African American to be published by Orbis Books in May, 2012. She has received numerous awards including the Elizabeth Seton Medal for Outstanding Woman Theologian and the US Award for Furthering the Role of Women in the Church as well as three honorary doctorates. Dr. Hayes has lectured throughout the United States, Europe and in South on issues of race, class, gender and religion, womanist and Black theologies, women in the Church, and African American Religion(s).
