Flooding – Near Death Experience – Whirlpool – Utah's Little Cottonwood Creek – Part 1
As springtime snowmelt flooding was just beginning to subisde, three intrepid 15 year-olds, two girls and one boy, attempted to float on inner tubes on Utah’s Little Cottonwood Creek.
They, along with many others, were entirely unaware of the dangers that lay on this normally small creek.
In part one of this short story, one of the girls is sucked into a whirlpool and is not released from it’s current. She is caught in the grasp of the rotataing waters and was unable to extricate herself, without help.
What are some of the lessons learned outdoors from this experience. UtahGuide.com host Mark Wade recounts this story, and then suggests some of what he learned.
