Why'd God Allow Slavery in the Old Testament? | Cliffe Knechtle

Cliffe Knechtle explains why you should follow Christ, not Christianity, since “Christians” have interpreted the bible in all sorts of evil ways, justifying to themselves slavery, when God is opposed to it, evidenced by His character.

2 years agoRead the tenth commandment. Exodus 20:17. Does that sound like it condones slavery. No. And these are straight from God.
@pigthepirategaming2948
2 years agoAmen!
@chronographer
2 years agoNothing in exodus says you can't go to another nation and buy slaves.
@cygnusustus
2 years agoYet another clip of Cliffe lying.
Leviticus 25:44-46 allowed the Israelites to buy foreign chattel slaves, exactly like the chattel slaves in the Antebellum South.

2 years agoSlavery is morally wrong regardless of religion
@user-ug6tj4qu7l
2 years agoSlavery creates iniquity and demeans the creation and contradicts God's plan and Lord Jesus' teachings. Some slavers are justified by the Law in that they married or adopted unclean men/women and that they needed to be in a position of authority or control like with teachers and students. The abuses that follow are terrible and ultimately serve God's enemies. I pray anyone who supports it and believes in controlling others and wants to be a puissant will get to learn why that word ends in -ant. Let the Lord's will be done, and not my own. Amen.

2 years agoWhat about Black slave owners and the Black's that sold them into slavery
@humanbn1057
2 years agoThe Israelites owned slaves. God told them how to treat and sell those slaves. If God was truly anti-slavery he could just said so.
@rear9259
2 years agoWhy would the first testament support slavery. The Jews were slaves of Egypt for generations until Moses
@ronanwaring3408
2 years agoTechnically it's not slavery in exodus that's actually condemned, it's self imposed indentured servitude for ones, who fell on hard times to pay off debts and feed their family's, and after a certain amount of years they were freed.

2 years agoLeviticus 25:44-46
New International Version
44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. 46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.
God also says to slaves to “obey your earthly masters as you would god”
God also says you can sell your daughter into sex slavery if you have debts.
That’s why people say god condones slavery. Because he does. He has a full system of how it should work (of course none of it applies to the Israelites though because they wrote the book)
As for cliffs last point about how god the all powerful all knowing being couldn’t change society over night
He didn’t seem to care about that when he said don’t wear two fabrics of different cloths, or not to eat certain animals, god is all powerful and all knowing he would have known that people would “misinterpret” his words and keep doing slavery. That whole argument is terrible.
@MarcSamuels562
2 years agoNever heard someone use EXODUS to say God is pro slavery before 😂😂😂
@timkolbrink3249
2 years agoExodus is saying that you should buy your slaves from the nations around you, so that is exactly what exodus said.
@nigellee9541
2 years agoSo is he saying at some point god is gonna drop an updated version of the Bible, and exodus is a half way point needs to be changed eventually or something?
@antoniosilvestrojr.
2 years agoThere is a gigantic difference between chattel slavery and indentured servitude. Capturing prisoners in battle is also different than those two.
@JerrysKid-uw8kw
2 years agoSlavery is alive and well and worse today than it has ever been ever. STFU until you accept that white people in America and Europe are the ONLY ones who gave up slavery
@christophertronier7363
2 years agoSo he is saying that God's perfect law was only to limit slavery in Exodus. I thought your God was a god of miracles. If your God commanded to have no slaves, and if you kept slaves that you would be put to death, then God's chosen people would probably choose not to have slaves. Oh my goodness, that would be a miracle wouldn't it.

2 years agoThese people are exhausting. Just because The Bible mentions slavery, war, famine & death doesn’t mean it supports these things, all of which still happen today
@Martonesdef
2 years agoThe slave bible completely removes the book of Exodus… so all that stuff about slavers following Exodus 21, is completely incorrect.
@alexcarson9638
2 years agoThere both wrong there was no Christian rave owners 😂
@user-ue9pu6bd9i
2 years agoPeople and sin enslave, Christ does not ..
People are responsible for there actions and responsible for transgression
@D3NL1LL3P
2 years agoThey were following exodus to the letter as long as the Jews weren't enslaved.
God is disgusting if he thinks slavery was ever okay.
@dustdivesterover4782
2 years ago😊😊 BOOM 🙏🙏💙💙
@MrDanAng1
2 years agoNo, of course slave owners where not following Exodus… they where following Leviticus.
@rlittlefield2691
2 years agoUntil 1680 European Slave owners let their slaves go after 7 years. African Slave owners were castrating male White slaves and had done so for 900 years. Most White slaves were dead in 2 years and never freed.
That is why White Christians risked their lives going around the world ending slavery
@Odo-so8pj
2 years agoThe bible clearly says if you steal someone you get the death penalty.
@samuelsmith5400
2 years agoI love when people take one scripture or passage of the Bible and make it into somehow God saying that he agrees with that when it’s literally just stating historic fact that happened at the time there’s literally a scripture where it says a man sacrifice his daughter to God, nowhere in the Bible does he advocate for that, in fact, that’s why Jesus in the New Testament says let your SBS and your no no do not swear on anything on heaven or earth, because the man swore oath, and he had to uphold it by killing his daughter
@bastait
2 years agothis same man would tell you in the same breath exodus didnt happen
so somehow they are following 3000 year old beliefs that they claim
shouldnt exist cause it never happened
until its needed for an argument then it comes out of the bag
make it make sense.
@stuff50467
2 years agoLegit every time slavery is mentioned in the bible God tells the jews to never treat someone the way they were treated by the Egyptians. The way the Egyptians enslaved the jews is more like what slavery in america was like. After the exodus the jews slavery was more like endentured servitude, labor payed a debt, and every 7 years any and all debts were forgiven.
@jaxkthereaper6569
2 years agoI'm sorry Christiana doesn't support slavery????! This guy doesn't know how to speak the truth even about his own book. They're literally parts of the Bible that tell you how to treat your slaves. Anything that makes you look bad you got to take it down. If you don't take it down you look like a bad person oh wait you are
