1 year agoThe King James Version is the best Bible in English. Older Biblies may have more or less books, by count, if they divide the scriptures differently. Like KJV may have 1 book, and another older Bible might have that exact same content as 2 books. Or the KJV could have 2 books, but in another it is counted as 1 book.
Then there are "Bibles" that have books of forgery, that are not scripture.
The Ethiopian Bible is NOT the most complete Bible. Some "Bibles" add false books that sometimes specifically state inside that they ARE NOT scripture! Men ignore that and claim it is scripture. Scripture ended with Revelation, and Revelation warns of adding to or taking from the book.

1 year agoI guess I'll be that guy, the lady spouting off sh*t about white nationalist is super unnecessary but while the king James is definitely not as old as the Ethiopian bible Christianity only gained any traction there in the 4th century with a man named Frumentius in like 330-331 A.D. Christianity has for sure been practiced in Europe since the first century king James bible is just one of the newest iterations not the only one, or the oldest out of Europe this is super easy to check like emperor Nero blamed the great fire on Christians in 64 A.D hard to blame a group that doesn't exist in the area and both desciples Peter and Paul were martyred in Rome Peter crucified and Paul beheaded also 64 A.D. ya know due to the whole Nero thing and obviously Christianity didn't start in Europe it for sure spread out of whats now in modern day Israel the middle east (so kinda points there) but it for sure would not be all over Africa or other areas of the world to the extent it is if it wern't for Christian missionaries spreading it out from that place we call Europe, America too but mostly as a result of it spreading there from the aforementioned Europe that seems to be what people say which is true I mean say what you want but these are all easily checkable facts and if thats not good enough for you consider this, it's not the Ethiopian bible all over Africa is it,… it's the king James plus it's not even the chosen religion of half of Ethiopia's population and even their Muslim population is only a few percentage points behind meanwhile their are a bunch of paper trails that Europeans in part justified colonization by claiming they were among other things civilizing "savages" with culture, and, industrialization they used the excuse of spreading Christianity as one aspect there are a bunch of old speech's and open essay's from statesmen and industrialists that are straight up public domain so they're both free and available that confirms this out of Germany, France, U.K., etc. here's one example there are many, many more search (Capt. F. D. Lugard The Rise of Our East African Empire, 1893) shortly in goes into missionary work ideally through medical work and employment targeting kids and basically outlines using superior medical knowledge to outdue "medicine men" and "witchcraft and magic" yeah dude really calls it that in his speech to target people to woo them to "the great truth's of Christianity" (his word not mine) but yeah loads of this stuff it's not made up or a myth people did kinda force Christianity in Africa first it was a taste of free medicine and a job then it was only medicine and jobs for Christians this isn't about dismissing whatever whoever you don't agree with says it's verifiable history believing only in what makes you feel better rather than verifiable facts is a near guarantee to put you on the path to ruin so once again, I mean that one lady in the initial clip spouting white nationalist BS is kinda an idiot but she's not entirely wrong either it just takes someone who knows more than a couple hundred years of very basic history to point out your both wrong Christianity not based out of Europe but it sure did spread out of Europe like nobody's business undeniable

1 year agoSo what? This isn't some sort of gotcha. And, yeah, Christianity has aspects that were in Africa early. But it was the Roman Empire, Crusades, and coloniziation that injected it wholesale. Imagine having your feet dipped in a pool, and then someone comes along and pushes you in. But still, who the fuck cares about this absolutist history point? Its still used by ethnonationalists as a way to attack groups they don't like. The first guns were made in China as well as the Middle East, but if a Nazi is pointing it at my face, neither they, nor I will care about its developmental history.

The only reason why Mormons don’t see how silly their beliefs are, is because other Mormons reinforce it.
