The Department of Health says patients should be optimistic that they will be receiving good services at healthcare facilities once the National Health Insurance kicks in – due to the introduction of a new system that will hold facilities accountable for the state of their healthcare services. The long-awaited NHI Bill was introduced to Parliament last week – and is to be fully implemented in the year 2026. We are joined in our Pretoria studios by the Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Joe Phaahla to get a clearer understanding of NHI.
