For all of recorded history, the powers that be have created locations with the express purpose of influencing society.

Based on the concern that the average person is unable to handle the whole truth, these places – particularly in the United States – are shielded from prying eyes, often bringing their own to the highest positions of government to preserve them. That, or they are used to do the exact opposite, created to hide greater ambitions that challenge the status quo.

Today we’ll shine a light on what defines a secret site, the reasons they exist in the first place, the entities that gave them strength, what they have done to change the world around us, and some of the greatest revelations that made the world start paying attention.
