3 years agoThe voice of the narrator sounds exactly like my friend, S. T., a Jewish Latter-day Saint from Bermuda (?), living for many years in Delta (Tsawwassen), British Columbia, Canada. The only difference is that Gretchen says “example” and “rather” in the American way instead of the British way that I seem to remember Susan usually using at church.

3 years agoNDE stories are usually uplifting,of course. They're also very challenging,what ever beliefs you bring to them. They can be so confusing to the rest of us. What is selfhood? What is this broken, painful human life about? They sometimes seem to raise many more questions than answers.

3 years agoI have had an OBE once in my life when I was 18 and some lucid dreams which enabled me to control my unconscious imagination, so to speak, but I've also had an experience during anaesthesia when I was a child whereby I was given the injection on the hospital trolley which caused me to lose awareness very quickly, but then amazingly I found myself above a hospital canteen and could see my mum and dad down below. My mum looked very panic stricken and called my name out. I recall hearing that clearly. Years later I described this experience to my father and he confirmed my mother had indeed done that because she was worried about me in the operating room.
