From the Yoruba spiritual hierarchy, to the Ashanti Golden Stool, to ancient Ethiopian Christianity and the Kongo Kingdom’s sacred diplomacy, Africa was never spiritually empty.
So why did religion later become intertwined with colonial control?
This documentary examines how trade agreements, political alliances, economic dependency, and internal rivalries opened the door first — while religion arrived afterward as a system of permanence, cultural reshaping, and behavioral control.
We explore how belief systems influenced governance, education, obedience, power structures, and long-term psychological identity across multiple African societies.
