Black churches are among the oldest institutions in the United States. They’re also living monuments to American history. Now, $4 million from the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund will be allocated to 35 Black churches across the country. NBC News’ Blayne Alexander visits Old Ship A.M.E. Zion Church to learn about its 171-year-long history and its hopeful future.
