This is why I refuse to have any friends. My "friend" was so mad at me for not showing up for her wedding when I was going through a major health crisis. Fuck that. I have a life and it's much richer with people that have at least half a brain and a kind heart. Others can bitch about me all they want.

    😂😂😂

Its even worse in the Ph where couples would get a dozen principal sponsors and have them wear a specific shade of dress, they provide the cloth but you have to have the suit and tie or gown made. 😂 Just Hilarious!

I once attended a not-so-close friend during her wedding: bachelorette party, wedding planing, gifts… Everything you name it, for almost a year. Imagine my dismay when she divorced only six months after being married. What a mes…

My friend was the chillest bride ever…wanted to have the bachelorette party in the city we lived in and paid for our dresses and hair/makeup
but just the wedding day photos killed me I was completely depleted afterwards…also as an introvert having to socialize with random girls and guys all day was exhausting
I hate this tradition looool went to a wedding recently without a wedding party and it was soooo classy I loved it

I find this wedding ritual revolting!!! I did it twice and never again!!! I was always left flat broke!!! this is the reason why I never out anyone through it. I got married at the government registry and went out for dinner afterwards.

Now I feel so bad for my sister and sister in law. But best people ever along with My maid of honor best friend. Never made them do anything but get any dress a certain color I showed them and gave them a bunch of stuff the day before. Just gifts. Like thank you for putting up with me lol. My best friend did the speech she surprised me with a baby got back song about how great I was and how she would not let him hurt me it was the best. Didn’t make the other 2 do any speeches they were family though so they were naturally amazing

This is 10000% accurate and how I felt after the fact of being a bridesmaid in 5 weddings

I had never heard of opening gifts brunch. Is tha a new thing? When I was in my 20”s I was in so many wedding parties and owned dozens of never to be worn again customized bridesmaids dresses. I don’t know how I managed to get through all the expenses. The best one is where the bride borrowed the bridesmaids dresses from her friend”s wedding one month before hers. They were all happy to lend the dresses. The bride had them all dry cleaned and i was just happy not to buy them . i did not care what they looked like. She was a chill bride who even made her own dress

I told my girlfriends never to ask me. I will be present at the ceremony and reception only. They all know that I am dead serious about that .

This is the prequel to domingo

  32. #32

It started when I refused to be a flower girl then refused to be a mini-bride at ages 5 and 6. I’ve been escaping these cults to this day 😂

  33. #33

Because of this, I paid for everything for my bridesmaids out of my wedding budget. My wedding’s main focus was fun, no drama, no stress. It was worth it. The wedding’s I was in people mostly remember the hassle. For mine people actually remember having a blast. And so do I. It doesn’t have to be this way!!!

I wasn’t even offended when my sister didn’t ask me to be a bridesmaid at her wedding. Relieved is an understatement lol

  41. #41

    This is so true

  42. #42

Got married in the 80s. We paid for the bridesmaids' dresses and expected nothing from them except to show up for the fittings, a couple of showers and luncheons (no gifts involved and the person giving the luncheon paid for the food), the rehearsal, and the wedding. That's it.

  43. #43

Thankfully I've always managed to turn down being a bridesmaid. It's always looked horrific to me.

  44. #44

    😝😝😝

  45. #45

I fail to see the paraody…

  46. #46

Seriously! Even if you're not in the bridal party the crazy things you're expected to pay for as a just are just too much. One person I knew had 3 parties before the event and then had a destination wedding. That same person got married to sunshine rise after the first one screwed up their marriage and this time they made us wait for HOURS in the boiling Las Vegas sun while they were about 2hrs late and we were all starving because it was dinner time since the things was supposed to start at 4pm and only be 15 minutes. We didn't get to eat the food that was nasty till 8pm. I didn't even live in that state. I'm never going to anyone but my kids' weddings ever again

  47. #47

I paid for my bridesmaids’ dresses and there was no bachelorette party, brunch, or anything else. Just walking down the aisle.

  48. #48

    subtle foreshadowing (domingo)

  49. #49

being a bridesmaid is a huge financial burden and if there's anything you can do to get out of it then do it. Tell him you're getting chemotherapy and you can't be a part of the wedding but you'd be happy to be a guest anything to get through the day
