Sure the queen was expecting Naofumi to spare them from execution, but I think the only reason the writer keep the alive was to keep the age rating to below 18+.

3 years agoI think the Queen was hoping for Naofumi to speak up and stop the execution, you could see it in her eyes that she was wavering before she could give the order. No matter how rotten their child is, no sane parent could calmly & coldly order their own child's execution, royalty or not. Even though this bitch deserved so much worse than that.

3 years agoI'm all for revenge but it has to be the right way. Don't get other people involved in your search for vengeance (don't kill the person's family just because the person kill yours). If people get in your way, that's another thing.
Additionally, don't go overboard in your revenge. If the dude kicked you, don't salt their fields and steal the hearts (figurtively) of their wives/mothers/daughters (but it would make a funny story).

And to anyone who still calls the Shield Hero "problematic", he has not only saved the lives of people who would have scorned him. Healed the sick, fed the hungry and cleaned up the messes those three fake heros left behind! He is the only true hero! The shield is the strongest of all the weapons, thus the Shield Hero is the strongest of them all! And he let those two off with only a change of their names! So suck it haters!

EDIT: There was nothing after this moment in season 1 worth watching, as i thought. Bad job writer, animators, anime industry, culture of Japan and feminism.
