4 years agoIf someone could "proof divinity" or perform miracles, scientist wouldn't be excited, they would be scared shitless. It's only natural that we as a human are scared that we could be wrong. That's why we must constantly defend our positions on everything and act as we know more than we do. Many times we even realize the fact that we are wrong, and we still keep defending our own bullshit.
Personal pride is a hell of trait to tacke with.

4 years agoMy aunts were speaking together at a funeral for a relative that wasn’t particularly kind to either of them. Aunt A is drinking tea while aunt b is talking negatively about said relative…next thing you know the tea was on aunt B dress and Aunt A was just as shocked.

4 years agoHe's so funny!!!
I'm highly religious and spiritual and taken by science as well!! I LOVE the ending from when he says "I'm not saying it's not TRUE I'm saying it's not scientifically relevant!" And every moment after.
I don't know why so many feel the need to explain out relationship to God through science. You're in the wrong department!! It's not the job of science. It reminds me of people trying to read Genesis to understand evolution . Lord, have mercy on us!!! 😂If you're really focused on this, peek into philosophical studies and read some Aquinas– he's wonderful at speaking about the role of science within the greater sphere of life itself. As a religious person– if God could be contained by scientific minds and the scientific process he would NOT BE God! Yes, you can learn about him and our creation of the mystery of life but in HIS TERMS, not ours!! And thank GOD for that!
Anyway, he's funny. And I love the ending. The truth is, you could spend your whole life living by the rules of the scientific method, but the moment you come into the presence of God you have an experience that blows all of that out of the water!!!
Peace to you all!! ✌️

4 years agoMaking everything in sarcastic context never serves your realm of theories, we need to know that the natural scientific method is not the only way to understand the world, yes it is really amazing method, but there are more deep things need another way of thinking

4 years agoWith this idea that we are these material bodies, evolved somehow from a primordial soup, I would expect every scientist who is convinced of such, to be suffering from most deepest type of depression. Just think…all we are is a bunch of chemicals and we are striving for happiness and love within the few decades that we have and then it's nothing…death is the last snare of the endless hurdles in the struggle for existence. But in the contrary, they are not depressed. They are taking delight in their scientific research and findings and proud of it….why? Why do they have this desire? And they also seek love. To have loving relationships. So the whole human civilization is trying its best to be happy and enjoy in the world. Sounds ridiculous if all we are is a bunch of chemicals. Why would they lament the death of a loved one….what is the point? So I'm posing these rhetorical questions, because life does not make any sense, if we are just these material bodies. Let science actually prove that we just dead matter. Some food for thought…

4 years ago"I didn't know that"… probably the truest acknowledgement of Neil deGrasse (at least, on the NDE context but I would also 'guess'; not only).

4 years agoThis is a very primitve behaviour by this creature… mocking others who have a NDE without facts or having a NDE by himself is very dangerous – don´t play with fire !!

4 years agoBut God has revealed to us through his spirit for the spirit searches all things yes the deep things of God
For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him
Even so no one knows the things of God except the spirit of God.

4 years agoThere are way too many of these NDEs to be explained away with a flick of the wrist even though Neil was only giving a brief conversational interview. I'm sure he has to support a scientific perspective at all times and these are very perplexing to evaluate even from a Xian or religious angle sometimes.

4 years agoPg. 2 In Many cases the experiencer described conversations in the other realm with relatives that were not yet born & in some cases a sibling was not even carried to term & never born. For this De Grasse character to set there & smirk, ridicule, try to convince people of something he is 100 % profoundly wrong & ignorant about, while professing to be a highly educated ‘expert’ elicits one word (well a couple) pompous, sanctimonious, arrogant MORON!

4 years agoNeil deGrasse Tyson is a typical mainstream hack. Although he can be engaging, he can also be a bit condescending. But worse, his job in my opinion is to deceive people, because that is what the news & entertainment industry, our education & political systems are about, and he is involved to a greater or lesser extent in all three. The simple fact is that he's leaving out an entire discussion about the fact that The Department of Perceptual Studies (DOPS) at the University of Virginia Medical School has been documenting evidence about Near Death Experiences for decades, and they have more than just eye-witness accounts. They have corrobertating eye-witness accounts of people who had a near death experience who were able to provide information for which there is no reasonable explanation.
For example, a man name Jack was in the hospital and his nurse told him she was leaving to go home to visit her parents. After she left, Jack died (I think he went into cardiac arrest) and had a near-death-experience. In it, he saw the nurse and asked her why she was still there. She said, "I came to fluff up your pillow one more time" and then asked him to apologize to her parents because she didn't mean to wreck her new red sports car. After they worked on Jack and he was brought back to life, he told the nurse what happened and she started crying and ran from the room. What Jack could not have known was that his previous nurse had indeed returned home where her parents had a brand new red sports car for her for her birthday. In her first trip out with it she hit something and was killed instantly. There is no way he could have known that. There are even more impressive stories of behavior that is even harder to explain in terms of the amount of observations made that defy coincidence.
While eyewitness testimony can be unreliable, it can also be incredibly accurate. And while our senses can deceive us (e.g. the earth is spinning at dizzying speeds but we feel like we're standing still), they can also be incredibly perceptive as well. The hidden agenda here is that we are to be led to believe you can't trust people's testimony because we're more easily controlled that way. Specifically, it makes it easier for the powers-that-shouldn't-be to get away with what they do to divide and rule over us, and this and other tactics pervade our society with this in mind (divide et impera). Similarly, we're discouraged from truly believing on a higher power because that might people fear death less, and thus fear retribution less to set things right.

4 years agoI suggest that when the material body that I now inhabit dies and immediately starts to decompose, it is as possible that I will be aware, as it would be possible that mosquitoes, dogs, alligators, bears, or any other forms of life that now inhabit material bodies will be aware after the bodies that they now inhabit die and immediately start to decompose.
As a species, we are not at all special, and had we evolved with paws or hooves, neither science, nor religion, would exist. And if as a species we go extinct, neither science nor religion “will” exist.

4 years agoThere's a flaw in his logic. Ordinary dreams and thoughts are subjective truths; but we all know they are "real" due to the commonality of associated traits. Likewise, NDE's are subjective and individual NDE's can't be proved to others; the countless experiences of recorded NDE's point to an obvious truth beyond of the understanding of ordinary science.

4 years agoTyson is way off the mark on this. He's totally ignoring the aspects of NDEs where people see and hear people talking in another location, what they were wearing, etc. This dude needs to quit trying to be a comedian and look at the evidence – I mean REALLY look at the large body of evidence. He's not even trying.

4 years agoAnother ignorant rationalist. Yes if one person claims an experience, it can be dismissed. If THOUSANDS of people claim these experience that see basically the same thing, (higher states of being) often WITH validations that cannot be explained "I saw you do this in the other room when I was clinically dead with no brain waves", then it frigging constitutes evidence and demands further exploration.
