As a listener of both Britt and Seth from sometime back, this conversation would have been a really good introduction to Britt before I could accurately dial into where she was coming from in her podcasts. I greatly appreciate both of these content producers, and here that's gotten better. Kudos.

I've been using the term spiritual athiest to describe myself for years now and its so refreshing to hear someone else talk about all the same points, when ive struggled with this definition for so long.

This podcast is interesting and thought-provoking but I'M not going to do drugs or "ooga-booga", go pagan or primitive for anybody, I'll be my own atheist thank you, and I think that us matter of fact, basic atheists feel the same way.

Thank you for having Britt on the podcast! I have since binged most of the content with her in it. I appreciate the exposure to new less-angry atheists in the sphere. I admit that I’ve listened to this channel less since the election. Not because I disagree, but because I need an emotional break. The older I get, the more conflict misaligns with what I want for my life. Thanks for all you have done, and be well.

It's so funny that people who think they talk to or hear from some Sky Guy is actually just one region of their brain communicating with another region of their own brain. 🧠😅
Maybe it's because I'm neurodivergent, but I tend to be very anti-authoritarian. When someone authoritatively gives a plan with extreme confidence, I'm usually thinking "What the fuck do you know?"
I keep thinking I skipped the "angry atheist" phase, but when I think back, I did have this deep seated angst and didn't know where it came from.
There's a valid reason for the pushback. There's no spirits so the word "spiritual" is ridiculous. Just throw the baby out with the bathwater. There are better words such as "contemplative", "awe-inspiring" and "experiential" etc. If you can't find an appropriate word then it's for lack of thinking.
Hartley’s work is helping me a lot but my one critique is that “religion” by definition has beliefs in metaphysical supernatural entities or realms of some kind. This isn’t required for natural experiences and fulfillment that seem “spiritual”.
