2 years agoIs there a "fiery hell", as a place of eternal torment for the wicked, as the churches of Christendom teach ? First consider what the word "hell" meant in 1611 C.E. when the King James Bible was originally published: "Old English hel(l) . Ultimately from an Indo-European word meaning “to conceal,” which is also the ancestor of English conceal, occult, eucalyptus, and apocalypse".(Microsoft Encarta Reference Library 2005)
The Online Etymology Dictionary says of "hell": "Literally "concealed place" (compare Old Norse hellir "cave, cavern"), from PIE root *kel- (1) "to cover, conceal, save…….*kel- (1) Proto-Indo-European root meaning "to cover, conceal, save", which also is the source of English Hell."
So, when the King James Bible was published in 1611 C.E., as well as the Catholic Douay Version in 1582, C.E., the word "hell" did NOT mean to torment or roast someone, but rather "to conceal" something, such as when "helling potatoes", that meant NOT to roast them, but place them as in a cellar below ground, in a COOL place.
So, perhaps this will help a sincere person to grasp Jonah 2:2, that reads according to the King James Bible: "And said, I (Jonah) cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell ("hell" Hebrew sheol, meaning "concealed or unseen") cried I, and thou heardest my voice."
Where was Jonah when he said that "out of the belly of hell cried I " In a place of fiery torment ? No. Rather, he was inside the belly of huge fish, being "concealed" inside. At Acts 2:27, 31, the King James Bible reads of Peter telling the Jews about Jesus, quoting Psalms 16:10: "Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell ("hell", Greek hades, meaning the same as the Hebrew sheol), neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption……..He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption."
Where was Jesus when in "hell" after his death on a stake ? In a place of fiery torment ? No. Rather, Jesus was "concealed" in the grave, awaiting a resurrection by God, as Acts 2:32 states according to the King James Bible: "This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses."
So, where did the distorted meaning of "hell" come from ? From the mistranslation of three Greek words, (1) gehenna at Matthew 5:22, 29, 30; 10:28; 18:9; 23:15, 33; Mark 9:43, 45, 47; Luke 12:5; James 3:6 (2), tartarus at 2 Peter 2:4, and (3) hades at Matthew 11:23; 16:18; Luke 10:15; 16:23; Acts 2:27, 31; Revelation 1:18; 6:8; 20:13, 14.
To further help a sincere person to grasp what gehenna ("hell", King James Bible) is, all a person has to do is CAREFULLY read Matthew 10:28, that reads according to the King James Bible: "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to DESTROY both soul and body in hell."
What did Jesus say happens to those who go to "hell", as he stated at Matthew 10:28 ? NOT torment, but "destroyed", for Jesus used the Greek word apollumi, that means "to destroy fully", and the Greek word gehenna at the end that means, NOT eternal torment, but everlasting destruction.
At Revelation 20:13, 14, the King James Bible reads: "And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell (Greek, hades, meaning "the grave") DELIVERED UP the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."
Here, at Revelation 20:13, what does it say about "hell" ? NOT torment, but that its "prisoners" are "delivered up" or freed of being its captives, for the Greek word hades means the grave, that will be emptied of ALL those who are there.(see John 5:28)
And what is "the lake of fire" ? The same meaning as gehenna that Jesus used, of everlasting destruction, "the second death", from which there is NO resurrection.
And the belief in the false doctrine of "hell" is dependent on the false doctrine of the immortality of the soul.(see Gen 2:7; Deut 12:20; Lev 23:30; Jer 2:34; Acts 3:23, KJV)

2 years agoI been watching videos like these a bit lately. But I’ve never been religious. But it’s very interesting, true or not. I was watching a guy on YouTube one day, and at the end of the video he said a prayer, and asked the people actually watching his video to repeat what he was saying. So I did, and I swear I have never, in my life, felt such love and peace after I said that prayer. I was mesmerised, beyond words. Just amazing. Please comment if you have ever felt like this. ❤

God has let many people sin for decades and decades, and isnt like he would send a drug addict to hell that has only been a drug addict for one year, yet God was merciful enough to forgive a person taht was a drug addict for 30 years. these are the tinhgs God wont show you. these things take a life of living to understand God fully. His mercy os the same for everyone, so dont be misguided by some thought in yuor head that a drug addict must change right now or not be given the same mercy that God gave to billions of addicts who were addicts for decades. unless you think God is such a man perswon that he would have sent all drug addicts to hell just for doing drugs. God cant tell you everything and he wont show you everything. he is just testing you to see if you will be a warrior and spread the truith of his mercy and stand up for the oppressed what God hates the most is racism, and that will be the only sign given to a racist. the worst sin of all is racism as the verse says, ANYONE WHO HATES A FELLOW BROTHER FOR NO REASON, IS A MURDERER WITH HIS RACISM, A RACIST MURDERS THE JOY OF PEOPLE
