How did Islam reach Africa ??
During Prophet Muhammed’s peace be upon him era, a number of his companions faced persecution from the inhabitants of Mecca and migrated to Abyssinia or Ethiopia today.
They were protected by its king, An-Najāshī, who later accepted Islam.
Later the conquest during Umayyad Empire reached North Africa.
West African kings and rulers started embracing Islam with the start of Almoravid dynasty in 10th century, and Islam kept spreading by trade and preaching.
