Jack Reacher himself, Alan Ritchson (Reacher, Blue Mountain State) joins me this week to bravely discuss his battle with bipolarism and the struggle in finding his true identity in Hollywood. Alan and I talk about being a better fit for Jack Reacher compared to past actors, hitting rock-bottom mentally, and the intense filming schedule of Amazon Prime Video’s Reacher.

2 years agoI admire Alan's forthrightness and his ability to share his weaknesses. I plan to come back this site and paste a prayer writing that I wrote about what he has gone through and still struggles with. Feeling worthy as it were for this world fluctuates and everyone's mind. For some it's tougher than others. His three children and wife, are there for him, that is his assignment, to serve them. Money, Fame fortune, are fleeting, the eyes of a child and the love of a wife and children are timeless. He's a very good man. I wish you the best Alan and God was with you and he's got a bigger purpose for you that you won't even know until sometime in the future. Until then, love your children and wife like they're yhe only people on Earth and you're the only person there for that.

2 years agoAnd here I thought he was just another egocentric Hollywood hottie. Well, he is that, but he also seems to be very down-to-earth, just like the rest of us. Thank you, Alan, and good luck to you.

2 years agoThat person threatening him for sex…… Claiming he tried to rape her.
It's so disgusting.Yes he is nice looking ..hey I have thought about how pleasant his weight must feel on top of me .. lol……but to try and force him… Phuckking hell….
Plus I never considered the constant stream of whores throwing themselves at him….men are wired ABIT differently sexual attention/flattery seems to be very hard to resist…its understandable, but as a girl it's very different for us.

2 years agoMy wife lost her father to suicide 7 years ago next month and she's had a very hard time dealing with it. She's been hospitalized for depression and thoughts of suicide herself so it's not easy trying to explain it to others than don't want to understand. I do know talking always help get through the rough parts. Thanks for being honest Alan and also loved u as Reacher and excited for Season 2.

2 years agoI use to have suicidal thoughts at one point in my life. I had two reasons not to. 1. Taking the easy way out only affects the ones closest to you. 2. We all eventually die, no one lives forever, so why speed up the process..

2 years agoIs there anyone in Hollywood who doesn't claim to be "mentally ill", or "suicidal", or "most of the people they grew up with are dead"? How I miss the Golden Age when the stars were stars and nobody had to listen or even know about their whiny bullshit.

2 years agoI saw Reacher the movies and this serie, having said this, I'm actually hoping there's another season coming soon.
I saw it cause honestly my deceased older brother looked just amazing like Alan and I have fond memories of him. Picking me.up putting me on his shoulders and trouping up a hill to my grandparent's home.. he was handsome.and naturally strong as well as tall…
I wish you the best in your career. He also had problems with his mental health and back than it was very tabu to even get help… So, keep up the good fight ..and everyday love yourself more .. and don't feel shy or bad saying how you feel… God bless and keep going…
PS
You did it the series is awesome 😎😎

Took many years but i can now say Im out of the rough and it was so worth it sticking around in the end

2 years ago3 tips from my experience.
Bad & good decisions accumulate. Look for good, avoid bad. Lack of decisions mostly end up being a bad decisions that accumulates too.
Decisions made being surrounded by distracting noises are automatic, subconscious or driven by the noise. Best decisions are made slowly, after framing in bigger picture and made being alone, focused on one thing at time & honestly true with oneself. Especially the hard ones.
Mental problem is a chronic state. After accumulation of reasons. And becomes a somatic problem as well.
It may be hard to demine such a complex, intertwined bomb. But fixing your diet into truly natural, organic & healthy and a healthy body ALWAYS lifts your energy up, ability to lift things up MASSIVELY. Sometimes you just wake up with a solution.
Planning your day to regain control of it & building healthy selfinforcing habits is crucial. Its the true strong will builder.
Your will is a limited but self-renewable resource. The better you manage & save it the more is left to make a big difference.
Avoiding DISTRACTIONS around you is much more important that focusing. Because there is no focusing, nor free will when distracted.
You may replace your life with distractions consciously or subconsciously. But it helps in nothing. It only keeps you in inertia limbo while bad decisions still accumulate.
The Pain of Discipline or The Pain of Regret. Is always Your choice. But you can make it ONLY if you feel You again, earlier it's a life threatening hazard.
That said, Life itself is a hazard so pick the better poison.
Keep balance between being egoist & altruist. You NEED BOTH like air to breath.
Be egoist to love breathing, living with wish to grow better against anything around.
Be altruist because besides being individual you are a living part of a bigger living thing – based in past, actual moment & preserving part of you in future after you.
Because you were born for a reason bigger than you.
Life energy is in breathing. Breathing with nose only. Breathing deep and slowly. Sleeping with a mouth shut. Actually often mouth shut alone can be a life saver.
Sleeping 8 hours is not a waste. But sleeping 8hours wrong way is always a bigger waste than sleeping 4 hours properly. No electronics or electomagnetic waves as light on. No disturbing noises (don't kill your babies figure out a proper energy-dense diet for more doing less & comfortable conditions to not have reasons to be pissed off & not sharing with baby your weak sides teaching it how to terrorize you). No tv electronics an hour before sleep time. No melatonin addiction. No coffee 6hours before sleep and careful with double/tripple doses before that time extends that time limit.
Exercises & movement. Not for muscles or look. For general body health, natural blood pressure, brain health & healthy regenerative sleep.
Thought hygiene. One thought at a time! Good thought at a time! Good interpretation before a bad thoughts creating event!
It's so crazy how powerful simple things added up become. Mindblowing. Small steps equal big steps.
Microprogress is much better than zero progress. Every time you start again the thing you failed is easier.
Overcoming it eventually brings that small wave of pride. That gives no real happiness, leaves you tired & prone to quit trying after feeling the costs.
And yet silently arms you before the next lost fight you will eventually win.
I admire people who do it all faster, with ease, not falling down in the process.
And i hate them even more, but not even close as much as myself and this not even close how i love myself and the world around, after sticking to it against anything, against myself the most of all 🙂
Well it isn't me really but loves to pretend so so much and never goes away. Maybe to remind me what not to do. Who cares, Let it be blessed too. Any friend will do.

2 years agoPurpose. It's so crazy when you re-evaluate what your motivation is and choose to abandon it because it's not practical, logical or even good to you and then you are without a purpose. It's tough. Re-finding motivation and purpose is difficult. Ok, so you make new goals. "But why am I making these goals? What's the purpose to anything?" The motivation to pursue goals you think you want is lacking. That's when you realize you make and define your own purpose in life. It's a sort of freedom that can suffocate you and liberate you at the same time. The only way out is to follow the purpose you truly believe is right and then the motivation will come. Then you have to self discipline to get back on track. Getting back on track is difficult. But do-able, because why wouldn't it be do-able? We all have our mental tools and techniques that protect and guide and help us. Hopefully they're the right ones for us at the time. Attachments to obsolete and self damaging tools can also be an issue. Like when you germinate a seed by soaking it. the water is good, but eventually you'll have to remove the seed and give it some air, otherwise it's gonna hurt the seed. Something you think is vital to you can become toxic later on down the road.
Also, identity.. everyone wants to paste all these labels and words on themselves, but when you are without labels you are free. Truly free but we're so attached to labels and ideals and mental cages and restrictions that freedom is almost scary. But the human mind is so much more than a few compartments with labels on them. If you find that freedom, I suggest not being afraid, and then you can consciously choose the directions you want to go without being chained to them as you were before.
