Braving some of the biggest most dangerous waves in the world nearly cost Maya Gabeira her life, but the Brazillian surfer turned the experience of almost drowning into motivation. In her first full season back from recovery, Gabeira landed herself in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest wave ever surfed by a female athlete, proving that sometimes failure is just a springboard for the ultimate victory.

“The Spirit of Conviction” is a weekly docu-series narrated by Academy Award-winner & Wild Turkey Creative Director Matthew McConaughey that delves into the lives of individuals who are consistently challenging norms and demonstrating unwavering conviction while remaining authentic to who they are.
