Hey guys, I’m the one being interviewed. I know it’s a cardinal sin to run through the comments but damned if I don’t appreciate all of you and a lot of the kind words. To all the vets thank you for being you and still walking (even with knee pain) forward and to all the civilians thank you for listening and being why we keep moving forward. Love you all.

Something about this interview felt very eery and dark.

u men are heros iam honoured to listen

The thing about him talking about being lied to in Iraq is so sad. I imagine many soldiers couldn't live with themselves being the invaders not liberators. I wouldn't be surprised if some Iraq vets went to fight for Ukraine, to finally feel like they're the liberators.

22:27 this part blew me away 0_o I wanna hear more abt the kinds of stuff he saw! Makes me feel like light pollution in the western world is intentional

The military and today's society are two TOTALLY different worlds yet we're being governed by the same people.

I thought this was the voice actor for Jake the Dog.

Those holes are everywhere they're in the US too. Deserts are really spooky places. There are other reasons the US invades countries, gaining resources is often just a side effect.

It’s wild to me seeing a retired marine in VR as a little anime girl….

12:43 he recently got released from prison

Since these videos started coming out alot of people in our generation have laid off hating on the majority of vets. I never understood how Americans can hate the people who are just maintaining what the government says.

God I miss how gorgeous it was over there

That first part makes me realize why there's so many pictures of troops with battlefield pickups of aks and Chinese chest rigs. My ar 15 hates being dirty and my ak has only been cleaned once. It loves carbon and sand. I can see why after troubleshooting a malfunction they say "fuck it im taking that ak". Thank you for your service and keep strong!

    "I was a lieutenant colonel, but as a civilian I ain't shit."
I feel this. It doesn't feel right, but that's the world we live in. On the other hand, I've heard some SOF guys say things like, what they've done doesn't matter, what matters is who we are now and how we continue to grow and push ourselves. I know PTSD is a bitch too though. It's just frustration with the system, but also learning to leave the past and not let it define us no matter how good or bad it might've been.

something about military guys being huge weebs feels completely natural and right

It's weird seeing Command Sergeant Majors or Leutinent Colonels retiring just to be range control for the rest of their lives.

  25. #25

Idk. I served, met a lot of peeps who went boots on the ground, the way you'd hear them talk about it, whether it's about seeing action or something benign, is nothing like how this guy sounds. Which is to say; not very convincing. But wtf do I know? I'm just some dude

The poppy fields were used mainly by big pharma to make opioids and distribute them among the American populace.

In regards to the oil, if you actually look around the numbers Iraq exports its oil to 3 main partners: Chin, Japan, Europe. America profuces far more oil then them, but it gets the amount it can't produce from mainly Canada.

Now, after Biden took over he began limiting frackng licenses and Canadian oil imports and began to import oil from the middle east and Venezuela…

Just an FYI, America didn't go to Iraq for its oil, but the Iraqi government under Sadam would randomly bomb tankers in the gulf causing prices to go up and affecting other countries, this is why in the golf war half of the world got fed up with him and send troops, ships, or airplanes

The "you get out of the military and you aint sh!t" is a true feeling. It messed me up for awhile after I got out of the military. After a few years of reshaping my sense of self, I started talking to other vets about it, first of whom was my father. turns out, it is a fairly common thing. personally, I believe it is one of the many sources of depression for recently discharged veterans.

Rigging sucks when the 3D model suddenly flips out

  42. #42

I'm a POG that was in 1/2 and there is so many guys from my unit that have committed suicide…like no joke, there's a lot of them. Actually, according to Facebook and people I keep in touch with still from my unit… we've lost more people to life over here than we lost on our Afghanistan deployment in 2010. Mainly suicide and drug OD.

  43. #43

Talking about shit helps. Not a vet but I DO have ptsd from childhood abuse and I can tell you from experience that it's like running water through the same coffee grounds multiple times, the more you do it the weaker the brew so the more you share the less it affects you.

Here in Arizona we get that red hue of dust storms sometimes especially lately bc of the drought and it was strange the first time I saw it
