Greed is the main source of pain. Hold onto nothing. You will have everything
There's no pockets in a shroud.
If there's nothing to do, go for a walk, have coffee, read books, watch people etc
Wow this really hits home,at 60 I am waking up to all this. Been hard to part with things but is so freeing and feeling less desire and more contentment with what I have. Always felt the need for acknowledgement and recognition in life.
This is mentioned in quran,
The one that’s protected from the nafs.. ( that inner self that wants )
The root of suffering is attachment.
Female can have sexual intimacy with random men, money, and gain validation but it will never satisfy them
I would say that the crux of topic is from Sri BHAGAVADGITA is Lord Krishna. But the philosopher has gone in a very powerful and palatable manner. If we understand this before 30 yrs and start practicing it without any doubt then we are the King of our life. It's sad that 99.99 % don't understand this simple concept and they suffer till the death. . Good post

Some years ago I was broke -80k usd balance, pretty homeless, parentless. And few years later right now, having new electric car, new house, 3000m2 of land, and over 300k usd, and I am not happy. I remember way before I was happy that I had food to eat, and now I hate myself for not cherishing for what I have. I started reading philosophy to solve this mental problem for me

The happiness I’ve ever have is my child hood . Yet I didn’t know it back then . I just wanna be an adult
Simply what the Buddha taught!!
Can desire also be expressed in sports? I just want to break my own records, at the expense of my body and health. I shouldn't train so hard, but I can't resist trying again. Against my better judgment. After a good result, it has to be at least equaled again, and so it always goes.

Solitude is a good friend. Learn to say no.

close eyes………. acceptence…. Doing nothing is doing the same as everything…. Doing nothing is impossible. For me if I can do what kids do. I did! Im at peace. I look at details around me and wonder and think of those details.

Surprised the Author not considering Buddha a philosopher. East knew it a long time ago.
Not needing it is better than owning it😏
Desire really just keeps us wanting more
The answer is simple
You need god and all the pain goes away 😊
No offense to Schopenhauer, but I'm pretty sure the Buddha knew about this a few millennia earlier.
Very similar to what prophet Muhammad said: "Whoever among you wakes up secure in his property, healthy in his body, and he has his food for the day, it is as if he were given the entire world."
Absolutely wrong. Deprivation is the root of suffering. Desire is natural, and inescapable. Self-inquiry, self-knowledge allow for a rational, intentional, compassionate life.
Excellent video!

I refer you to the life of prophet Mohammad pbuh, he spend everything that he got, before he leave this world.

The only thing I desire is to end my workday in peace without having an additional list of house chores, emotional drama, or forced conversation just to keep the peace.
One can be content with the things they have if one buys right in the beginning. Quality over quantity.
Don't let your desires blind you too live a good life, one that you can be truly happy with
Endless desire really does trap us.
Ironically, all the adverts during this video are trying to sell us things !!
