My parents taught me that we are reincarnated and I believed this until I was 56 years old and started reading the Bible. I thought my harsh life as an adult was my due. It was my karma and I deserved it for being awful in a past life. I was terrified of having to come back again. Please, please read your Bibles! God alone experiences reincarnation in every "person" that He creates, but some souls experience mystical union with God and can also experience the lives of others through that mystical union, but they are not reincarnated, only God is, but some souls come out of their mystical union with God with the impression that they were the ones who were reincarnated, but it's not so. What God does with souls are up to him. Just because he does not tell us everything does not mean that he doesn't do thing we don't know about. I'm a Christian and am familiar with all those verses cited. I'm also a believer in Randy's sincerity, wisdom and his heaven experiences. However, this logical examination of the question of reincarnation is really lacking. The main thing to consider in this, is that the Christian paradigm states that all who do not accept Christ go to Hell, and very few find the way! Reincarnation or Purgatory ideas DO make sense compared to this standard terrifying paradigm. I'm not saying either of those is true, just that they make more sense to human thinking. Could it be that the soul of a person is judged and perishes, but the spirit goes on to try again in order to have another chance to accept Christ ? There are lots of lives over the centuries where people never accepted Christ due to, not only not hearing about it, but hearing about in a unmotivating way ( eg by a priest who molested you as a child ). Jesus did say: "And if you are willing to accept it, John is the Elijah who was destined to return – let him who has ears, hear". There are other things to consider as well, but can't make it too long.
If Lazarus was in heaven and not the grave, how come the rich man could see Lazarus and talk to Abraham?

I will show you three instances in the gospels that show that a ‘type of reincarnation’ is part of Judaism and was present at the time of Christ .
I say a ‘type’ because mostly when the word reincarnation is used it is interpreted from a dharmic (eastern) view.
First: John 1:19 and this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
Why would they go and ask unless there was an understanding/belief that it was possible that Elijah was John the Baptist. They were told to expect the return of Elijah. John the Baptist said he was not Elijah but Christ on a number of occasions said he was.
Second: John 9:1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
Here it shows the apostles had a belief in it also. Now before you attempt to say Christ outright rebuked the idea read the next example as that would refute that.
Third: Matthew 16:13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
Here you have Christ asking and again it shows the belief in reincarnation held by the apostles and the ‘people’.
This is just three examples and I have not gone into depth on Elijah being John the Baptist.
History points to a time where a roman emperor had it removed from theology.
There are also writings from earlier early church ‘leaders’ besides Origen such as Clement of Alexander that held the belief.
It is not about hoping for reincarnation at all.
If God wants to send your spirit back into a new body are you going to tell him no?
Elijah was a great man of God but was sent to do a work for God in the body of John the Baptist.
Lastly the ‘elephant in the room’ Heb 9:27
Hebrews 9 is about the passage of Christ and how his death replaces the temple sacrifice not a lesson in reincarnation.
Read and understand Heb 9:26 and you see that the way this verse is misused could not possibly be meant to be taken in the way you have interpreted it.
My friend and I have had this discussion because she believes in reincarnation. I said to her that our God is all good and he wouldn't make us go through living o. Earth again. There are children that when thèy are young remember past lives . Playing Devil's advocate, didn't Jesus state that John the Baptist was Elijah returned? Hebrews 9:27, Jesus states, "if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who was to come". It was prophesized that Elijah would return to prepare the way for the messiah. I would assume that God could make exceptions if his plan requires someone to reincarnate but I doubt it is the norm.

I like how you didn't look into miracle stories involving reincarnation, this would be like using Hindu text to disprove the idea of heaven, I came to this video hoping for an intelligent overlook, but instead I got a hasty generalization, or a spotlight fallacy.
Why is it then that multiple people that have had near death experiences say that they were shown their past lives? I prefer not to be reincarnated so I don’t understand why people are shown these things in the midst of Jesus?

How can anyone really know?
Jesus is Lord. Jesus came in the flesh and is the Son of God who lives forever. Jesus did nothing wrong and was obedient to God. Jesus was crucified and died for the sins of the world. Jesus's Blood was shed so we could be forgiven. Jesus' Body was placed in a tomb. On the third day God raised Jesus from death to Life. Jesus will never die again. Jesus left the tomb and was seen by witnesses who said He is alive. Jesus ascended to Heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21, Romans 10:13, Joel 2:32. Read the New Testament in the Bible to find out more about Jesus. God Loves You Very Much.
There is no reincarnation
Dig deeper, reincarnation is real. You tell me, how a man could have sinned before he was born.
John 9:2and His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of God would be displayed in him.

A Bible Story for Young Adults
Matthew 17:10–13 KJV — with Rebuttal & Counter-Rebuttal
What happens when we allow the Bible to speak for itself—verse by verse, without forcing one verse to cancel another?
The starting point is the promise of God:
Malachi 4:5 — “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.”
Then John the Baptist appears.
Luke 1:17 says John would go “before him in the spirit and power of Elias.”
Jesus then makes the connection even stronger:
Matthew 11:14 — “And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.”
Then comes the decisive conversation.
The disciples ask Jesus:
Matthew 17:10 — “Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?”
Jesus answers:
Matthew 17:11 — “Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.”
Then Jesus says:
Matthew 17:12 — “But I say unto you, That Elias is come already…”
And Matthew gives us the identification:
Matthew 17:13 — “Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.”
The chain therefore reads:
Elijah was promised → Elijah was to come → Jesus said Elijah had come already → Matthew identifies John the Baptist as the one Jesus was speaking about.
That is the biblical text.
THE REBUTTAL
A common rebuttal is:
“The Bible never uses the word reincarnation.”
Correct.
The KJV does not contain the English word reincarnation.
But that does not answer the actual question.
The issue is not whether Jesus used a later descriptive word. The issue is what Jesus taught and what Matthew recorded.
Jesus said:
“Elias is come already.”
Matthew says:
“he spake unto them of John the Baptist.”
Therefore, reincarnation is being used here as a descriptive term for the Essence / Spirit of what Matthew 17:10–13 records, not as a word being placed in Jesus' mouth.
This is precisely why Scripture says:
2 Corinthians 3:6 — “the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”
The letter gives us the words.
The Spirit helps us understand the meaning of the words together.
ANOTHER REBUTTAL: “BUT JOHN SAID, ‘I AM NOT ELIAS.’”
John 1:21 records John being asked:
“Art thou Elias?”
He answered:
“I am not.”
That verse must not be deleted.
But neither should Matthew 11:14 or Matthew 17:10–13 be deleted.
So the question becomes:
How do we handle both passages without making Scripture contradict itself?
Luke gives an important piece of the chain:
Luke 1:17 — John came “in the spirit and power of Elias.”
John could deny being Elijah when asked as a literal personal identification, while Jesus could identify John in relation to Elijah according to the prophetic fulfillment.
Rather than allowing one verse to silence the others, let Scripture speak with Scripture.
COUNTER-REBUTTAL
The counter-rebuttal is therefore:
Do not merely ask, “Where is the word reincarnation?”
Ask instead:
“What did Jesus say happened to Elijah?”
Jesus did not say merely that someone came with qualities resembling Elijah.
He said:
“Elias is come already.”
And Matthew immediately tells us:
“he spake unto them of John the Baptist.”
That is the textual sequence.
The term reincarnation describes the Essence / Spirit inferred from that sequence.
WHAT ABOUT RESURRECTION?
This does not require denying Resurrection.
Jesus Himself declared:
John 11:25 — “I am the resurrection, and the life.”
The question, therefore, is not:
Resurrection OR Reincarnation?
The biblical question is whether Scripture presents different operations of God's dealing with human life, and whether Matthew 17:10–13 gives evidence of one life/person being manifested through another earthly birth.
Genesis gives the foundation:
Genesis 2:7 — God formed man of the dust and breathed into him the breath of life, and man became a living soul.
James says:
James 2:26 — “the body without the spirit is dead.”
Ecclesiastes says:
Ecclesiastes 12:7 — “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”
Thus, Scripture itself distinguishes between body and spirit.
THE GREATER SAFEGUARD
We should neither add to God's Word nor subtract from it.
1 Corinthians 4:6 teaches us “not to think of men above that which is written.”
Romans 3:4 says:
“let God be true, but every man a liar.”
And Isaiah 55:8–9 reminds us that God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours.
Therefore, the safest approach is not to defend a tradition merely because it is familiar.
It is to examine the Word.
THE COMFORTER — THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH
Jesus did not leave His followers without guidance.
John 14:16–17 speaks of the Comforter and the Spirit of Truth.
Then Jesus says in John 14:26:
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost… he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
Therefore, the interpretation of Christ's teaching should ultimately be brought back to Christ's own words, not merely to human tradition.
THE KO
The KO is not against a person, pastor, priest, teacher, denomination, or believer.
The KO is against a false argument.
Rebuttal: “The word reincarnation is not in the Bible.”
Counter-rebuttal: The word may not be there, but the question is whether the Essence / Spirit of reincarnation is demonstrated by what Jesus said about Elijah and John.
Matthew 17:12:
“Elias is come already.”
Matthew 17:13:
“he spake unto them of John the Baptist.”
That is why the claim being examined is:
Jesus Christ said Elijah had come already, and Matthew identifies John the Baptist as the one Jesus was speaking about; therefore, the Essence / Spirit of Matthew 17:10–13 is understood here as Reincarnation according to Jesus Christ.
Not because Jesus used the English word reincarnation—
but because His words and the biblical chain are being followed to their logical conclusion.
RIGHT FIRST TIME
If the Bible is God's Word, then we should not be afraid to examine every verse honestly.
Do not erase John 1:21.
Do not erase Luke 1:17.
Do not erase Matthew 11:14.
Do not erase Matthew 17:10–13.
Do not erase John 14:16–17, 26.
And do not allow tradition to make Scripture fight against Scripture.
Read the letter. Seek the Spirit. Follow the chain.
JUST IN TIME
The next generation deserves more than inherited arguments.
They deserve the opportunity to open the Bible, examine the evidence, ask honest questions, and allow the Comforter—the Spirit of Truth promised by Jesus Christ—to teach and bring His words to remembrance.
RIGHT FIRST TIME.

Preserve the Word.
Seek the Spirit.
Let God be true.
