  1. Quite often when marrying non-Christians, the Christian grows lukewarm, falls away, or abandons Christ. One becomes like the company with which one surrounds oneself with. Uncommonly, although it does happen, does the non-Christian repent and convert.

  2. The first major marital disagreement we had was over Christmas presents. I was Protestant, my husband Catholic. After the birth of our first child we realized our Christmas present traditions were VERY different. Does Santa come while you are at Christmas Eve Mass? And you open presents after church? Or does he come when you are asleep and you open presents Christmas morning? Man…that debate raged for a month. I won though once my husband realized he needed that overnight period to assemble all the gifts.

  3. I married an atheist, believing his words the he would "respect" my being Christian…ctually he didn't at all. He kept complaining because I went to church on Sunday, I had to discuss a lot to have pur children baptised and have sacraments (whoch he had agreed before getting married)… I believe he married me with the belief he would have easily made me forget my Christianity (with endless discussion about how evil the Church was and how silly were those who believe in God), but that didn't happen… I never treid to convince him to come to church and respected his "non-belief", but this wasn't enough for him, he wanted to "convert" me to atheism, and when he saw it was impossible, he left me. Now I know I should have never believed him when he said, before marriage, that each of us would keep their own beliefs; his intentions had always been of making me forget Christianity.
My suggestion is: be very careful when you start such a relationship… (IMHO it can't last)

  4. 2 Corinthians 6:14 ESV

[14] Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

It's great that some interfaith marriages have worked out but it isn't recommended because it usually just ends in an inability to fully accept each other's values

  5. Did it (technically). Married an unbaptized Mennonite so they were as good as a non Christian for our wedding. She converted to the faith within a few years and is now a better Catholic than I 😊

  6. I’m entering into a relationship with a man who I am liking more and more every day. He’s a good man.

But he’s not into Catholicism or any religion at all, really, having been burned by it. I feel empathy for him. I do want to make it work though.

Hopefully God wills something good to come out of it.

  7. I was born catholic, bu stopped practicing as a teen. Got married to a non catholic and had two kids. Then found my way back to the church. Now the priest says he won't baptise my kids until my wife of I of 15 years, go to newly wed marriage classes to get officially married in the church. I definitely recommend working that out ahead of time.

  8. When I came back to the faith, I was in a committed legally recognised relationship with a man who was not raised Catholic. Regarding my faith, he can be judgemental, rude and minimises the metaphysical teachings of the church. All that said, our relationship is the journey that led me back to the church, so I will be faitful to him. He saved me from a man who was leading me astray and put jesus back in my view. I can not discount my man in his role leading me back home, despite himself being a materialist Christian leaning agnostic. I can't help but feel my lord led me to him, calling me to be his wife.

  9. My mother married my father he was from the Church of the Nazarines or Church of England

My mother agreed to bring up my sister RIP 😢and Me in the Roman Catholic Faith

I think the children of Christian’s and I think Jews are brought up in the mothers faith ?

    Muslims unsure ?

  10. Catholic here. My only two serious relationships were with an Ashkenazi Jew (4 years) and a Romanian Orthodox (2 years), and we were OK with our beliefs…
Sadly, we split due to secular problems (mostly not being available, due to working on different schedules).

  11. My apologies and don't mean to be rude – but why did you introduce the word-by-word subtitles? It's very suboptimal for people who are hard of hearing compared to line-by-line subtitling, and just very restless and distracting for the rest of us except for perhaps Gen-Z Tiktok crowd (no offense to them meant).

  12. What does the Bible say? Read 2 Corinthians 6:14-18. “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers…” I have been married for more than 20 years. Do not agree with what you just said and I base that on scripture.

  13. I am of an interfaith marriage. Dad is Baptist. Mom is Native-American tradition…. Somehow, I ended up a Jew. We make it work. Passover is now a big-deal for the family. We do Seder, then watch Jesus Christ Superstar.

  14. I’ve been down that road and my answer is, DONT DO IT….. unequally yoked relationships are messy, full of urguments, walking on egg shells n finally becoming Luke warm. I choose the God way to date n marry, ALL DAY👏🏻👏🏻

  15. As a raised Catholic, hence christian, getting up in age, the idea of marriage has been considered but I've always appreciated the fact that the Church allows for interfaith marriages, only because it just seems logical and it seems fair. Granted, I know the Church doesnt recommend them, and i know why partly because it just gets complicated and also complex for raising children however leaving the door open for a possibility still seems fair. I've noticed this as I've gotten older because I know about certain religions, particularly Islam, which dictates that Muslim women aren't allowed to marry a non-muslim in 100% of the circumstances, so in that case, you have to convert to Islam if you were to ever want to marry a Muslim woman, she couldn't convert less she cause a major issue with her community. I'm not dumping on Islam, I'm just noticing that I appreciate the freedom that my faith gives its followers when i comes to marrying non-catholics.

  16. I feel like it also depends on what the other faith is. My girlfriend is Antiochian Orthodox and I’m Catholic (Melkite specifically.) Even if I were a Latin Rite Catholic I feel like there would be very little difficulty navigating our respective faiths because the general doctrine for both is almost the same.

  17. lol all of this religion this religion that….how about if you love and respect a person and they reciprocate give them a chance, anything else is just "holier than thou"

  18. things can either go wrong or good, they can either believe or stay an unbeliever 😅 life is tougher with unbelievers sometimes and some of them

  19. My wife is on her journey from Baptist to Catholic, and my children as well. I found my faith again this year and the lord has revealed himself to them THROUGH ME. His glory knows no end.

  20. Honestly I don't see why I should care about something like this if you love each other what if one belief doesn't match up after all any religion we know that has gods are filled with Mercy so why shouldn't we because after all this is love we are talking about not something else I know you are not against this I am just clearing it up for everybody else

  21. I'm an atheist and I do think it could be hard dating/marrying someone religious but I'll support them. IF I have kids in my future with someone religious, we are NOT forcing religion upon the kids. They'll be allowed to figure out for themselves whether or not they find peace in religion.

  22. I'm dating someone who doesn't have a religion but he respects my beliefs. He even let me share who is Jesus. Then he told me if we get married and have a child, he's willing to let me teach them based on my beliefs.

  23. In my experience, it didn't work out, and it almost hindered my faith and hurt me so bad at the same time you have to put God first in everything everything my personal experience it didn't end well
