  1. The voice got me laughing out loud. lol 😅 Back when I was going to church, when a certain Pastors wife talked to the congregation, it was like she was talking to Kindergarten kids. It was so fake. A really nice person, it seemed, just really fake. Your work is much appreciated.

  2. I was told by a non believer when I was a believer that I was "Weak" , that I had a "Weak" demeanor, I listened to myself talk from a recording of my devout Christian days and Wow I did sound weak and fake , the guy was right , although at the time I got defensive about his comment

  3. 1. Enjoy your content. Very valuable perspective.

    2. I’m active LDS and don’t know any LDS women who use that baby voice in daily life or at church. Seems like an unfair caricature and generalization.

I just listened to some women’s conference talks to check myself, and you do hear it there some. Not from Sheri Dew for sure.

  4. I didn’t feel like you looked dead inside I just know I’m having a very hard time with it I am 66 years old and I love my grown children so much and I guess I always thought I would see them again in heaven it ducks to think we just die and that is it my heart breaks for me losing my religion and I have deep down know for awhile that a lot of things in the Bible did not make since and then this stupid Christian nationalism started and I knew that that was not right at all but I have found you through Dan McClellan and you both are helping me get through this I’m very emotional now and it is so hard but thank you for your content

  5. Oh, this knocked me out. I am an non-theist community worker that provides support to low income communities and I can't tell you how often I run into religious justifications for behaviors that ultimately create mistrust between commmunity members (and no, I'm not putting myself in there…I'm talking about falsely religious people hurting others in their community). So I'm enjoying your imitation…but crying inside for the pain that fake religiosity causes in communities that need true love instead.

  6. At the time that I realized the church is a lie and was making my transition, Several of people close to me said that I sound different. I didn’t understand what that meant or how that was possible but now I realize it probably was some sort of change like that.

  7. I fell for that too and then realised it was fundie baby voice, lighting, coming off illegal drugs, gaining some weight and fake smiles. Like in the photos of Susan Atkins when she was first arrested and years later after becoming a born again Christian in prison.

  8. That fundie baby voice was the norm in Hollywood and wider society in the 50s and 80s when there was a lot of social conservatism caused by right wing governments in the USA and UK then. It used to be referred to as a telephone voice then that women put on while answering the phone at work and in the home. Only now I realise how childish and submissive it was. I would make official calls and would think that the 16 year old work experience trainee had answered the phone as grown women had put on the fundie baby voice.

  9. I'm Catholic from Poland. And I say this to tell you that sometimes when I listen to the American people's stories about what religion did to them, I get the impression that Christianity in the US is an entirely different branch of Christianity, even if it has the same name as mine

  10. ✨ As a Christian, I find that baby's voice cringe.. and I totally disagree with that percentile.. I see someone who will weigh and consider.. anything!! I am a new follower who is Christian and finds you very intriguing !! You always make me 'think' after each of your episodes and I thank you for that.✨🥳

  11. After all this time, I can finally see you're not dead inside. It finally has shown through in your countenance! 😂

You gotta warn me before you pull that voice out. Just about spit out my food. 😂

  12. What you found is precious! You actually found God! Hurray! 🎉 It's organized religion that once left you feeling dead inside. God exists in spite of it all. God is real. Organized religion is fake. And God had nothing to do with it. It wants to sell you something. It's an entertaining drug that you trade your money and a lifetime of loyalty to. It wants fans! And when you leave you've betrayed that fan club! And that will never do for all the fellow members who put a lifetime of skin into it. Like all attractive fiction — books, movies, tabloids, music, etc. — it mixes half truths with lies to pull you in. And conflict. Lots of conflict. Every read a good book without conflict? I have not. Originally, Man created organized religion to alleviate fear of the unknown, and to show gratitude for his sustainable existence. But then selfishness and greed set in. And the priestly powers and governments that be found it a useful tool to enslave and control the populations — for their ends, not God's. The only way they could enforce it was through a system of rewards and punishments. Fear of eternal damnation is the rat poison that organized religion feeds you. You receive it in constant tiny doses, usually from early childhood to the grave. It's a distorted, perverted system of brainwashing and lifelong mind control. But it's a lie they sell you and you buy into! But fiction that is truly captivating can't be entirely negative. Truth has to be carefully sprinkled for seasoning. But it's always more lies than Truth. The genuine central Truth of one organized religion is that the Kingdom of Heaven, whatever you make Heaven out to be, is within YOU. You have it already, and it actually the only thing that can't be taken from you. It's actually the whole thing that can't be taken from you. Oh, yes: there are scumbags and evil people in this world who do nasty things to others. Some may never know that Kingdom. But you don't need any holy book, priest, pastor or a church to know God — the true God, not the man made deities of the world's organized religions. People who are trapped in organized religion only need a slight wavelength tuning adjustment to get the full Truth, to walk away and be free of the lies forever! When you know the Kingdom, you know the Source. And you have and are part of God forever. That's the Truth. Congratulations!🎉 Happiness to all!❤

  13. "You've lost your countenance"…oh dear. As a verb it is 'to approve of' or 'tolerate something'. Well, maybe the return quip would be 'I've seen the truth"?

  14. I had an evangelical Aunt who used to talk about how she knew a true believer by the brightness in their eyes and that non-believers have a "dullness about them". I was a born again at the time, so I agreed with her but now? Complete bollocks. Maybe it's just recognizing sameness?

  15. I was following you until you said patriarchal. I promise you that’s not the problem with the churches it’s more like the feminization of the churches where the 20 somethings are on stage singing to their boyfriend, In the midst of a light show with smoke machines

  16. I grew up Catholics in Italy, I dare say not the most religious country in the world yet I also had that same little voice, for years. Now that it's gone sometimes I still startle myself when I am angry and I show it – and the men around me still can't handle it tbh. Good times 😂
