Western religion—the Christian faith—was intertwined with Greek philosophy from the start, and that led to the positing of a metaphysics that affirmed the possibility of science and led to its establishment in the medieval universities, which were Church institutions.
The earth was made in "6 days." What is important to know is that the idea of messuring time was made by us humans so an eternal God saying "6 days" makes sense because it's a way we can visualize the idea of time.
As a science and physics enthusiast myself, I've actually found that metaphysical philosophy perfectly explains how the world was created in a matter of days, yet our instruments can accurately measure fossils and the earth being million of years old. It's because of the 'mature earth' theory. God created each part in it's mature state (humans, plants, animals, stars). And yet those things would naturally have been developed over long periods of time. Because they follow the natural laws of the universe as soon as they come into existence, we must assume that they have had a pseudo past so that their current state is perfectly, naturally mature. That past is measured by instruments that simply predict years based off of the condition of the artifact that is following the rules of the universe. But, because God lives outside of time, he was able to plop the universe right in ready made and to continue along perfectly; he didn't need that past. I don't think you have to sacrifice believing in the 'couple days' bible account to be an accurate scientist.

I think Neil doesn't read any verse of the Bible other than that one verse… if he really embraced it… Jesus speaks in Metaphor, Jesus also claims to be God and has proven that by rising and staying alive.. which means God didn't say it was created in 7 days… it's just a metaphor on how he forms it.

This is foul play or plain ignorance: the 7 days for the creation of the universe doesnt mean actual days. that word in hebrew means also "indefinite period", so it's a traslation issue.
Also if the sun was created in day 4 then in the first 3 days there was no concept of actual "day" as you need a sun and a rotating earth for it to exist

Science is an art, it's the art of understanding what's around you.
You can believe genesis is not literal but you cannot reduce christianity to an ethics code. When you read the bible you see Jesus makes a claim through his words and actions of being the supernatural god, you can choose to live in relationship with him or separate from him, and he will honor the choice you make in this life for your eternity.

To me religion and mysticism is a tool for life knowledge same way science is a tool for knowledge on our u reality. Religion and stuff like tarot cards bring insight to the human “spirt”. Very useful I disregarded all of it till I turned 18. Let’s say I got a different perspective and wisdom from it.
