Does anyone actually have loved ones that they believe are going to heaven? I certainly don't believe my loved ones will be there… I hope they will but I would be rather surprised if there were many at all…
Ehhh what about the fact that theyre upset that they missed experiences on earth that they know may be enjoyable regardless of the fact that they would now be united with God, FOMO is a natural human thing yk.
I know a Mormon family that were posting a bunch of photos of their daughter that ended her own life, like literally open casket photos, and posting happy family pictures next to her dead daughter.
I saw one post from a religious person on facebook saying that the person from her church who recently died was more fortunate because she already "finished her race". Then, I wondered whether she prays to God every night that it would be her last. Does she thank God every morning when she wakes up to be alive or feel less blessed because she did not die?
I'm playing a game with my friend. He dies in the game. I know that I will play with him again next round, but I'm still sad that he won't be playing for the rest of the round.
That’s because death is bad. Dead people are dead. We don’t like death. However, Jesus promises everyone will rise from the dead, some to live forever, and some to die the second death.
If your a Christian and the Bible and god isn’t real you have spent your life trying to be like god and try to be a good person, but if god is real and your an atheist you have wasted your eternity
Death is not seen as a natural part of life in the sense of being good. In the Bible it's referred to as "the last enemy" (1 Corinthians 15:26).It is a tragic consequence of humanity's separation from God, the source of life.
Therefore, to weep at a funeral is to acknowledge the profound wrongness of death. It is a natural response to the pain of separation from someone we love. Even Christ Himself wept at the tomb of His friend Lazarus (John 11:35). It's not a sign of weak faith, if the Son of God wet, so can we.
The Orthodox distinction lies not in whether we cry, but in the nature of our grief. The Church encourages tears of love and mourning but cautions against tears of despair and hopelessness.
What RELIGION? I miss my LOVED ones but I have Mass and PRAYERS to saints (in HEAVEN) or PRAYERS for and to the BLESSED souls in PURGATORY… Miss them, feel their absence, not killing myself. HOW MANY ATHEISTS SURVIVE THE DEATHS OF CHILDREN, LOVED ONES, TERRIBLE NEWS RELATING THEIR HEALTH, even BANKRUPTCY?
Sorry to break it down to u Alex, we don’t believe we go to heaven right after we die, only after Jesus comes back. Idk how this man is still considered top tier atheist
I think it’s not about the fact that they will be missed but about the fact that they will be missed more, if the rocket exploded it will 50 years before Î meet him but if it doesn’t then 20 years, so thanks for meeting me 30 years earlier
Well Christian’s believe you go to sleep and then judgement and either heaven or hell so that’s cause for concern. Also I miss having that person even if you break up with someone for there on good so they can go on to do great things you’ll miss having them it’s not atheistic it’s just human.
Even when Elijah went to heaven Elisha cried because he’d miss him for a lifetime
We don’t think the separation we feel the separation. You Atheist are kind of sociopathic, can only think and can’t feel. We feel emotions instead of thinking emotions. That could be the answer for, why you are an atheist(only see things through logical sense.)
The issue for creedal Christians is their is no hope of maintaining spouse and family relationships. It's until "death do you part". They may see them again but marriage and family ends.
LDS teach eternal marriage and family through the sealing power of God's priesthood–temples. We grieve to miss our loved ones, but have a great joy knowing we'll be with our family forever. Family bonds may be eternal.
The only religion happy about death is Islam, especially the radical Muslims. They want everybody to die. You don't see too many Christian, Jewish, or Hindu suicide bombers.
You can’t know if someone’s going to heaven, only God knows if someone has true faith. And I miss my loved ones I can’t see and I don’t always love Gods plan but at least I can have peace in the storm knowing they’re with God and I’ll see them again when I’m dead
I don't think that is a terrible point at all. Although I'd say that it's not the distance or time that grieves the Christian, but rather that any natural being is absolutely shaken upon meeting death as death itself is unnatural and only exists because of sin. It's the same reason one isn't completely fine when enduring immense pain even it's for their benefit. Things can still hurt even if you understand that it's not the end, it can still feel like it to the unmortified flesh.
No, because the human mind doubts. It is flawed in that, even in the face of truth, it trembles in moments of despair. We can know God rationally, yet feel absence emotionally. That is not failure—it is human nature. We cry at funerals not because we have no belief, but because, in that moment, grief speaks louder than certainty. And still, beneath the doubt, the truth remains.
You can make a philosophical debate; it is another thing ; but in reality, why should anyone not mourn death or be sad about it for that reason you mention here?

Some religious people do actually feel fine or even happy because they think he reached heaven

it does seem true
atheists tend to know more about religion than theists do that is why atheist seem more religious that theists actually
There is no conciousness in death (Job 14:12) (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 9:10) (Psalm 146:4).

There's more, but for now this is enough.
God Bless fellas.

Since when Jordan became a representative from all religion?

Religiosity is virtually indistinguishable from mental illness
Read Carl Jung.

Depends on what religion

Who said that there going to heaven they need to stand on judgement wether he is in hell or heaven
You're too young to have lost a child, whether you're religious or not, the void and " what could have been " is overbearing.
There is other religions besides Abrahamic ones

Why don't we all just die and go to heaven if it's better than earth
Weakest argument/perspective I've ever heard from Alex. Disappointed, frankly.
There is actually nothing to cheer about death.

Strange argument.
