When I was about 8, I was staying with a friend for the week, as my mother was away. We both developed strep throat and were confined to bed. i remember thinking I could not be in more pain -when suddenly I felt or heard a "pop" and I left my body, and found myself looking down at myself and my friend in our beds.I wasn't frightened, rather, I thought it was quite cool , and I decided to see if I could sort of float around the room at the top of the ceiling, which I could – diving and spinning. I can still feel the texture of the ceiling above my back. Then I thought I had better get back into my body . As soon as I did, I woke my friend and told her what had happened, and then told her mother when she came to check on us. My friend didn't believe me, but her mother was unphased and absolutely accepted my story – I was lucky to be believed.

Like Ellyn, I'm adopted, so my very first experience of life in this world was being separated from my biological mother – the one person I most needed at that point. I've come to believe that we are here in this material world in order to fully comprehend separation – something we can not experience in a state of pure consciousness when we are all part of everything. Separation is painful, yet we survive it everyday. It's nice to believe that maybe death will be the end of separation from the cosmic consciousness.
This sounds a bit like the tv series ‘Silo’, where people’s minds are wiped over and over, they cannot remember what came before, lied to and deceived to live a really tough life in an underground silo environment with death the only escape. A few similarities?
