While running an errand in Harajuku, a man with a magnificent white beard in striped, oversized shorts crossed my path, and I knew had to photograph him.
As fate would have it, five minutes later I spotted him walking into a gachapon store, so I followed him in.
He agreed to let me take his portrait, and then told me an unforgettable story about death, resurrection, and newfound meaning.
