Jimmy , could you do an episode on Christian persecution , our Catholic , Orthodox , Protestant brothers and sisters in Christ are being persecuted , tortured and killed , In Pakistan it’s a life sentence for being baptized , In Nigeria upwards of 20 Christian’s a day are being massacred , the list continues going through China , Iran , Syria etc , I find. A lot of people treat their faith like a middle class country club and we forget there are Christian’s dying for the name of Christ all throughout the world and we must stand with them! Please make a point of doing some episode on this topic , Pope Francis wrote about this in Ecumenism of Blood
Some Near Death Experiences, known as 'Peak in Darien Experiences', involve encounters with dead people who were still believed to be alive at the time, or were complete strangers to the experiencer. For Example, Cardiologist Pim Van Lommel has shared the case of a male patient who, while undergoing cardiac arrest, encountered his deceased grandmother and a strange man who looked at him very lovingly, but whom he couldn't recognize. Over a decade later, the patient's mother, who was now on her deathbed, revealed to her son that he'd actually been born from an extramarital affair, and that her husband wasn't his real father. His biological father was actually a Jewish man who'd been killed during the German Occupation of the Netherlands in World War 2. She also gave her son a photograph she'd kept of his biological father, and he instantly recognized him as the strange man who'd been looking at him lovingly during his Near Death Experience over a decade ago.

So, kinda silly, but is that doctor eating the patient's lunch theft? On one hand, it didn't belong to him and did belong to the patient. But on the other hand, it was clear that the the patient wasn't going to eat it, would certainly be unable to eat it even if he did stabilize right at that time, the doctor did legitimately have a need for food, and had it not been eaten, it would have been thrown away. Now maybe you answer this at the end of the video when you get to the faith perspective, but it is an interesting question that I do not feel qualified to answer.
Jimmy, is there a reason you didn't consider the psychic theory (as you did for reincarnation)? The fact that some experiencers manifested such ability after the NDE may be an indicator. I assume you'd prefer to take the phenomenon as it appears and is reported, but seems like psychic ability could mimic NDE veridical info. Isn't this why many psychic studies are more than double blind, to isolate the root cause? Obviously can't set up studies for emergency health crises.
I died of a heart attack for 4.5 minutes back in 2019 resuscitated at the hospital very long complex NDE , tunnel , light , heaven etc. , was hoping for more info than hospital doctor talk , Doctors usually dont even understand basic medicine most of the time , talking to them about Heaven , God , NDE's is almost always a complete waste of time , an exorcise in futility , so disappointed my fellow Christians rarely truly study this subject but only seem to confirm their biases and talk to other people who dont want to know the truth about NDEs or even basic Medicine itself .

It seems like many of the people seen in heaven during NDEs can be described by physical characteristics as if they have a body. Yet the Catholic Church teaches that we aren't reunited with our bodies until the end of time. How do we reconcile this?
I've heard of the shoe account that it could be seen from outside and that the first report of her seeing it was a third hand account from later. Do we have things other than books claiming this happened?

Being a surgeon very well might take a unique kind of fortitude…it is kinda strange to open other people up literally. I don't think I had ever really thought about that before haha
Leaving aside seeing relatives and physically impossible veridical information, my skeptical theory is the body is in fact still functioning, in a state of hyper awareness and reconstructing a "body" to receive the information. Sort of like how you can run a virtual machine on your computer that acts like a real computer. The body is mostly dead, but not dead dead, and it might be something like hyperactive terminal lucidity. The brain doesn't see and hear, we see and hear, so the brain transmits the info to a virtual body it created, that can receive it. That's what I would argue for if you forced me to take a skeptical view, but it does not explain information that had no proximate source.

The NDE reported by the nurse sounds like it might be a hoax on the nurse's part. The nurse already believed in NDEs and whispered, "Welcome back," to patients who wake up because the others already think the nurse is weird. Like a story, the nurse reuses the word weird later when the watch is found, "I don't know. Maybe it's weird." There's no apparent reason for the nurse to reply that way other than the previous use of the word in the story. Also, the nurse could've hidden the watch in order to attribute it to the patient seeing it in an NDE.
I also find it interesting that one of the reports was that the experiencer took a lot of time out of body to try to communicate with family that she was okay, even traveling 30 miles to her son-in-law. Since at the beginning she had been watching the doctors work on her body–and they were having a lot of trouble which they didn't report to the family–why was she so certain she was going to be okay? Other experiencers don't know that they are going to go back, whether it's their choice as in the cancer patient's case or they don't want to go back such as when an uncle pushed the person back into the body.

On his blog, Michael Prescott had a series of entries entitled "who will watch the watchers". It was about Maria's shoe case. Apparently, people from the Skeptical Inquirer went up to "investigate" (it turned out to be a hit piece).
Could you cover (and disprove) the "soul trap" theory. Like, some people say NDE's are just scams to get us to reincarnate or something. It all came from ONE dude who had a vision in his meditation. Sounds like pretty weak evidence to me.

@jimmyakin, do you have an episode on people having emotional or energetic responses near or at the same time as a loved one has passed? I've heard stories from mutiple people, including Tom Delonge from Blink 182, that he shot up from bed at the same time he's father passed. Shortly after being awoken, he got the call his father passed. I think people have gotten similar "notifications" of people passing.
