Near-Death Experiences (NDEs) are characterized by the presence of common features that seem to be independent of the circumstances surrounding the experience. Most NDEs have a pleasant or positive nature; others are “emotionally neutral” (Greyson, 2023), and there are several that are considered distressing or unpleasant and that share various features which are typical of pleasant NDEs (Bush & Greyson, 2014; Greyson & Bush, 1992). Furthermore, -like reports have been obtained from people whose lives were never in danger (Facco & Agrillo, 2012), which is why some researchers have classified them into crisis and non-crisis experiences (Fox, 2003). Here, we present the results of a systematic analysis of participant narratives, aimed at exploring potential differences in the number of reported features based on the type of experience (crisis vs. non-crisis) and its nature (pleasant, unpleasant, or neutral).
