There are people who've lived an entire life of negative stress and excessive responsibility. For those people, nothingness is better.
Almost back to old format
In my personal experience, i believe it is caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain. When i had gone awhile without oxygen (during a cardiac incident) i tripped pretty hard. I saw some weird sh!t. There were like mirrors reflecting mirrors in a infinity style room. I saw some odd stuff. However, it was sorta terrifying and left me a bit discombobulated. After, i was more curious about what the experience rvealed about my mental state. In the mirrors, i could see glimpses of me living lives that i never had. Weird
From a philosophical angle, there are only four possibilities (a) neither an afterlife, nor creator exists, (b) no afterlife exists, but a creator does, (c) an afterlife exists but no creator does, (d) both an afterlife exist and a creator does. From the formation of the stars down to the molecular structure of all livings is enough evidence to suggest a creator exists. How can something be created from nothing? Impossible! Some force was created to set off the Big Bang. Furthermore, the many NDE stories from people imply that consciousness doesn't die when the body dies. Therefore, I am going with option (d).
I have REM Sleep Intrusion multiple times a day. When I used to be religious I was thought of as a mystic since I would have vivid visions whilst being in that state of near sleep/Wakefulness all the time at Church😂

I died for about 45 seconds like 13 years ago. It's nice. The peace of it is something that is impossible to convey in words because the weight of our existence is something you don't realize is there until its gone. Its a connection to all that has been and all that will be.

Oh dear Simon.. You are starting to be worse than the fundamentalist theists. Coming from an ex-Atheist->Agnostic, you can't just take the low hanging fruit and debunk it. Do some more research mate. Try Pam Reynolds or maybe just use Google Gemini to find the cases with the most evidence and with peer reviewed papers by academics/medical professionals. I understand that the scientific method needs testable hypotheses but just because something is unfalsifiable does not mean it isn't true. Hey we could be surrounded by 100s of invisible spaghetti monsters and pink elephants. 🙂 But the court of law (in most countries) uses testimony and people are executed (in a few rare countries/states) based on this. If you have a million people say they saw a spaghetti monster, you can't stick your fingers in your ears and just go "la la la la". It is illogical.
There are similarities across cultures, time, and languages. I don't think these are experiences meant to actually persuade anyone else of anything. Death is a very personal thing whether it's quick like being struck by lightning, or slower from being old or fighting a cancer. I think it's interesting which cases are presented here and to what weight was given to them. I would be curious as to whether you actually spoke to any of the researchers and asked which cases might be the best objective evidence thus far, and how often do they come across cases that could be something else. Granted my search into this stuff was over 20 years ago, and I'm certain much better medical understanding of the brain, and better tools and data to work from, but have there been animal studies to capture other creatures in the moments of death? Do their brains match the frenetic energies during death that we do? Hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, mice, dogs, or cats? We certainly destroy and kill lots of animals so there doesn't seem to be a shortage of study material to work with, what are those results? Yes your segments are meant to live in the gray presenting two sides of a thing so that the answers amount to zero at the end and it's all just entertainment. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
You can’t prove there’s an after life and you can’t debunk it either. It’s taken on faith. Science can’t prove where life or the universe began but will still crap on anyone that believes in a creator.
On the atheist thing. Not all atheists claim to know there is no god. There are many types of atheists. Most just lack a belief in the god of man’s created religions. Many acknowledge the possibility that some higher power could exist. Not claiming the knowledge that no god exists.
Ive been Astral projecting for 3 decades. Ive seen events of the coming days in them that really happened several times. in one case an event of 2 months later. Theres much more to life than we know but the knowledge is available both in east and west. yogic and buddhist systems and practices are well available and best organized of all though.

I've been clinically dead on three separate occasions. All three on an operating table whilst under anesthesia. From my perspective I just went unconscious and came around straight away. So nothing to report from me, not even the passage of time.
"Perceived consciousness" is an oxymoron how is this in a definition?
"Chemicals in the brain" is not a good explanation for NDE's in which real information is gained.
I have been out of body twice, it was amazing. You have a body your are not your body. What are you if not infinite consciousness?
What if this is the "after-life" and you simply don't remember your previous lives.
The shear number of NDE’s render your skepticism pretty weak.
I just want to say in the defense of the afterlife. That there are people born who remember their past lives.
And yes energy is a constant and doesn’t dissipate. It moves around in a way I don’t understand. However I have had enough events in my life that proves to me that something exists afterwards. 1:50

Personally can't wait for Simon to go find out for himself if it's real or not. Another couple decades ought to do it. He already looks ancient. Given how he doesn't believe anything at all that he ever talks about, this will be THE big finding out. His opinion won't matter as he either goes down the tunnel to his life review, or evaporates into nothing. Either will be fine. His intense negativity here on Earth won't matter there. They won't care. Or they REALLY won't care because there's no there there.
Had 2 NDEs. One I was able to hear things from down the hall that later was confirmed to be true. Death is NOT the end.
Regarding atheism: Agnostic atheism is merely a lack of belief in any god or gods. Gnostic atheism is the belief that no god or gods exist. Atheism and a/gnoticism are not parts of the same spectrum, they exist alongside each other and are often expressed in conversation together.
The number of people who feel a desperate need to believe in near death experiences is equalled only the number of people who need to explain them away (otherwise we need a whole new physics, and they don’t want to have their settled world view upended like that).
I'm a biker and have had several accidents. Don't just wear a helmet, wear a full faced helmet of good quality! Don't buy a cheap helmet, those things bust open as soon as your hit the tarmac! Spend good money on a good quality lid, it will save your life.

An examination of credible UFO/UAP reports should at least make us more humble about how complete our understanding of reality really is. Some reported phenomena appear to behave in ways that are extremely difficult to reconcile with our current understanding of physics. That does not automatically mean our laws of physics are “wrong,” but it does suggest that dismissing anomalous evidence simply because it does not fit our present models is not a very scientific attitude. The history of science is full of phenomena that initially seemed impossible because the prevailing framework was incomplete. The same humility should apply when discussing NDEs.
