His Heart Was Forced Across His Chest—Then His 8-Day NDE

In this powerful near-death experience conversation, shares how a terrifying crushed his body, violently shifted his heart across his chest, and sent him into an eight-day coma filled with disturbing visions that completely transformed his life. An experienced skydiver with hundreds of jumps, Jason was coming in for what should have been a routine landing when a sudden mountain wind threw him off course. Traveling at more than thirty miles per hour, he crashed through a cattle fence and slammed into the side of a metal airplane hangar. Ten of his twelve ribs broke, multiple organs were damaged, and the impact tore his heart from the pericardial sac and pushed it to the opposite side of his chest. Doctors told his family they had never performed this type of heart surgery on a living patient because people with injuries this severe normally die before reaching the hospital. After emergency surgery, Jason was placed into a medically induced coma for eight days. During that time, he experienced hundreds of vivid, terrifying nightmares in which he was abandoned, threatened, and repeatedly confronted with the possibility of giving up and dying. In one of the most intense experiences, Jason found himself on a train where he was told anyone could kill him without consequences. Instead of surrendering to fear, something changed inside him. He declared that if they were going to kill him, they needed to do it now because he was coming back—and coming back stronger. Soon afterward, he opened his eyes in the hospital and was told he was lucky to be alive. Jason believes the experience became a spiritual battle that tested his faith, perseverance, and desire to live. Before the accident, he had prayed for God to guide him because he felt lost, unhappy, and convinced he was meant for something more. After surviving injuries doctors considered nearly impossible, Jason began viewing the accident not as the worst thing that happened to him, but as the best. His recovery forced him to confront his life, appreciate his family, express gratitude, become more emotionally open, and stop allowing fear or other people’s limitations to determine what was possible. Doctors warned that he might never run again, yet one day before the first anniversary of his accident, Jason completed a triathlon. Today, through his book *Eight Days Till Sunrise* and his speaking, Jason shares the lessons he learned about faith, resilience, fear, gratitude, second chances, and finding strength during the darkest moments of life. His message is that difficult experiences can reveal how strong we truly are, fear does not have to control our future, and sometimes surviving the impossible gives us the opportunity to finally become who we were meant to be.

  1. Pediatrician Melvin Morse has shared the Near Death experience of a patient named Mark Botts, who was afflicted throughout infancy with tracheomalacia (a floppy windpipe). When Mark was only nine months old, he developed serious bronchiolitis and had to be given an emergency tracheotomy, during which he went into cardiac arrest. It took his doctors over half an hour to successfully resuscitate him, and Mark was never told that his heart had stopped and that he'd been clinically dead during his operation. When Mark was three years old, a Christmas pageant triggered memories of the emergency operation and he started talking to his mother about it. He told her how he'd seen the nurses and doctors bending over him as they tried to wake him up, that he had flown out of the operating room and had seen his grandpa and grandma crying while they held each other, and that Mark had the impression that his grandparents thought he was going to die. His family confirmed that his observations were accurate, and that his grandparents had indeed broken down in tears and held each other because they were convinced that Mark was going to die.

  2. Finaly got the message from the interview. We have to be present and live it. Not the past or future, live in the now. Everything else? Hum. Thanx a lot Laurie like always. C ya next wednesday

  3. Very similar story here… Sudden sepsis that hit me out of nowhere in 2016 and I ended up being in a coma for almost a month with non-stop nightmares. For months afterward I relived those nightmares as part of a strange inner process. Yes, I made it through with a deep understanding of myself and the spiritual world. Like you this was the 'best thing that happened' as it was such a profound experience. I feel I recovered and overcame that for the sake of my wife and son as I knew how devastating it would be for them if I had passed. I give gratitude and express it every day. At this present time I am faced with another life altering situation and unsure if I will make it through as the love of my life just recently passed and I get the sense that this will be 'my time'. I keep seeing references to death and dying at every turn today and am not sure how to process all that has happened in the past few days. I find myself in a very strange place now sitting with this knowing/unknowing but I intend to act from my highest alignment . I SO relate to your story. edit add several minutes later… I reminded that I do know that "instead of death, there is life"… though my partner passed from this world, she is very much alive…she has shown me this fact. I will face my fear and live in this world while not being OF this world. Perhaps I will have more time here…it all depends on where I am most needed, so I will see how this plays out.

  4. I'll be honest…I was hesitant to listen because I don't want negativity in my consciousness, but I'm glad I did because the message was clear. Besides, I couldn't miss a podcast of Laurie's. Since he said he was Christian I wonder if he believes in hell. I know he said he didn't think that's what he went through, but I'd love to know his beliefs within the Christian dogma, because as most of us know…it's either heaven or hell according to them. Thank you Jason ..thank you Laurie. ❤❤💫✨️

  5. This wasn't a classical NDE, but it wasn't a simple dream state either. He clearly learned a lot from what happened!

I don't think looking for shitty things to persevere through is necessarily a good thing. But learning what good came out of shitty things your persevered through is. Shit will find you regardless.

Believing in your own power is very important indeed

    Thanks for sharing Laurie!

  6. I love that Jason did a triathlon after the accident and after the doctor told him he wouldn’t be able to! I hate it when doctors say negative things to people.. and then they don’t even try
