Most of the near-death experiences we hear about are positive, but studies suggest somewhere between 5% and 20% of near-death experiences are hellish. In this episode, I sit down with author Brian Melvin, who claims he had exactly that kind of experience in 1980. He was a militant atheist at the time, hospitalized with cholera, who says he died, met Jesus, and was then sent into what he believes was hell before being brought back.

The people who study Near Death Experiences, professionally, all say that there is NO hell to go to!!! It was INVENTED by the Roman Catholic Church centuries ago to keep people in line, through EMOTIONAL manipulation, brainwashing, and through INDOCTRINATION!!! And, of course, a big, hefty dose of fear!!! Fear based religion!!! Nothing but fear based messages!!! "If you don't believe and do everything we tell you to believe and do, then you'll FRY throughout eternity in the Lake of FIRE!!!" – the so-called preachers and pastors!!! That's pretty much what they say in a nutshell!!! But, yeah, I find it "funny" that the so-called preachers, pastors, and Christians tell a very DIFFERENT story of what actually happened!!! A number of years ago, a real estate agent (if I remember correctly) had an NDE, where he went to hell. He wrote a book called “Twenty Minutes in Hell.” He also tells his story hoping to turn people to the Lord Jesus.
I believe him but his narrative meandered and was difficult to follow

These people who have had this experience.
Which religion or church do they recommend?
Is there a consensus?
Some churches (many?) (most?) must be wrong.
Are there better ones?
Worse ones?
Do any of these people NOT see Jesus?
Do Muslims have these?
Jews?
The body going through trauma might experience hallucinations.
Not forgetting people lie as well.
How do we know any of these stories are real?
I remember in the 70's and 80's Big foot sightings or UFOs were common.
And now that everyone has a high-resolution video camera in their back pocket the claims have dropped away.

All make believe. What is experienced is past trauma relived through a distorted dream-like lens due to the near-death injury.
Remember just because he may have sincerely had the experience does not mean that what he experienced was anything other than a dying brain hallucination. We are pattern seeking mammals and most of these Hell tourism NDE’s copy the basic structure of Dante’s Inferno and mideival western Hell imagery that has been a part of western culture for generations ie in other words he was exposed to enough of this imagery during his life for his brain to construct what appeared to be a coherent narrative when his body was under extreme distress.
Brian has also made claims that intercessory prayer works yet has provided no documentation of healings peer reviewed independent studies or otherwise so take what he says with a massive grain of salt. Like the grand majority of these NDE’s his account sincere though it may be still ultimately boils down to just trust me bro.
A typical Christian "saved" experience here. Designed to scare the "hell" out of people so they will repent before death strikes for real. As for me, I believe the Lord speaks to all according to what they may be open to receive. Those willing to receive more receive it, while those who limit what God can say receive the lesser part of the word. Eventually the Lord will come and all truth will be revealed to all. Most of us will be surprised. In the end, the Lord will save all who are willing to believe and be saved. He has a way of changing most minds and hearts while teaching His children not to fight among themselves.
I confess, I have had a lot of that darkness, and still do have some in my heart. Please Lord, help me to cleanse my heart of that garbage.

One interesting detail is that he saw Jesus with holes in his wrist. The common misconception is that the holes were through his palms, which is NOT how crucifixions were performed. The nails were placed through the wrist so that the arm wouldn’t tear away.

I had a "hellish" NDE myself. It also changed my life. I believe hell is real and I believe heaven is real. I believe Jesus is God's Son, our Savior, and soon returning to be King. My experience was in 1977.
My stepfather was an unholy monstter, he did horrific things to me…sometimes unspeakable sick things. I have a brother and a sister that call him father, because I couldnt stand being around my unrepentant abuser they cut me off, like I had done something wrong…Im so worried IM gonna go to hell because Ive never fully forgiven him, but hes never ASKED for forgivness, My real father is a lifelong addict,wanted nothing to do with me..will I go to hell for not honoring HIM?!?! im so utterly terrified of Hell, ive suffered so much I cannot imagine a world where hell didnt exist. I want my siblings to love me, to see and understand what he did. If my father did HALF the sick crap to them as their father did to me id do more than disown him..I certainly wouldnt pick him over them…I dont want anyone to go to hell, not even him..its too extreme,I dont want anyone to suffer for eternity on my account..not even him. Am I gonna go to hell because I feel this way? Im so miserable, and worthless, I mess everything up, nearly fifty now, im terrified I will be punished for being such a broken useless nobody? The problem is the concept of original sin. It doesn't exist and Christianity got it wrong. When we die we all go to the afterlife or heaven but those who had bad karma from hurting others or denying God get put in a hell of their own creation. As soon as they call out to God with actual belief for help, they get whisked up and brought to the afterlife. We all sign soul contracts before our birth and that includes people that will hurt us. After this life we will reunite in the afterlife and realize that they were playing a role in our life for us to somehow learn and grow from the experience. Even the horrific experiences. Once you remove the concept that we're all born as dirty filthy sinners (my biggest gripe with Christianity when I was still in it) then it becomes a lot easier to feel love from God instead of judgment. Religions are the problem. Spirituality is not.

Bryan got judgmental at the end toward others in white suits. That’s not in line with agency or choice – thats a warning and isn’t part of what Jesus teaches. Your religious choice as to sect is still your own agency. Jesus did not make you an expert on the gospel as a result. Only for you to learn. You still have a lot to learn my friend. I watched a youtube video about a book compiling various NDEs, some heaven and one specific one that was a NDE with hell. I wish I could remember where I found it, it's been a couple of years. This man described it VERY detailed of hell, demons, the devil. He woke up in the hospital, thankful to be alive and repeated how Jesus was the answer. He lost his wife, his family, & friends but he is adamant that what he experienced was hell and how Jesus pulled him out just as Bryan described. The other NDE that was talked about was heaven and beauty, love and light. The man had been in a terrible car accident, was told it wasn't his time and sent back to earth. He described it as a place he didn't want to leave and was upset and depressed he had to return to earth. He loved his wife and kids but couldn't understand why he couldn't stay. I believe what Bryan describes just like I believe the other NDEs, too, good and bad.
I have nightmare NDE’s daily living in the communist state of Washington. I wish I could move.
