I hope the right person sees this comment. Can't we invent something that immediately protects individual soldiers from an attack (like a grenade explosion).
Think of 3 things: a parachute, a car airbag and those airbags that protect elderly that activates as they fall (protects viral parts from a fall).
Can we not invent something so that if a soldier pulls on a string from their equipment, it releases some sort of carbon fiber protection that covers your body/head.
Like think about that airbag that inflates as you fall to the ground, it deploys and protects your hip and head. But now imagine instead of an airbag…. It's a different material. Even if it gives 50% coverage. Could be life saving????

You had a job to do, and you did it. You are lucky to be to come out on the other side. Sounds like an awful experience, I am pretty sure I wouldn't have been anywhere near even thinking about volunteering for that. Probably the best thing is you survived and your team and you were all paid too.
