Hi, I've found great arguments in the rational defense of the Christian faith but that of the unity of the 66 books, I find quite weak because of so many ties between the different writers, almost all of the NT writers knew one another (with a conservative theology and ecclesiology) and many of the Old also, and if not personally, they had access to their texts or teachings in many ways, they were all of the same faith, same peaople and same God, so yes the numbers given regarding time and space differences are impressive but I find it quite natural that they would agree in spite of the notion of 2 Jews and 3 synagogues which may be the most important reason to be struck by such unity. But then, you must add to that a collective selection of the books canonized.

I battle depression and I was so depressed one time I just couldn’t get bad thoughts out of my head, even questioning my benefits to others, I heard a question “ don’t you know you’re the apple of my eye?” I later learned that is in the holy bible. When I was a young child I looked into the sky and said to myself “there’s someone watching over me up there.” As a adult in my 30s I stated out loud just to myself “ I’d sell my soul to the devil if it would prevent my children from having the pain or living through the hell I’ve lived through “ and I immediately heard “do you not think I have more power than Satan.” And I just couldn’t stop apologizing and asking for forgiveness!! I still wonder if I didn’t say it correctly or at all from the regret of saying something so foolishly stupid!!! I ask again for forgiveness God my Father in Heaven forgive me for even remembering saying such a foolhardy thing!!!!! God I love you and need you in my life!!!!!

@ around 27 min; Isaiah 65 & 66 are prophesying about the new Jerusalem in the kingdom of heaven that is eternal. The prophecies of the return of the first exiled in Jeremiah and Zechariah & Zephaniah & Hosea & Malachi and many others are prophecies of the regathering and the restoration of the old covenant earthly Israel. All these have been fulfilled with the rebuilding of the 2nd temple.
Then comes the promised Messiah and the reign of King Jesus from the kingdom of heaven.
"The Jerusalem above which is the Mother of us all.." Galatians 3 is the fulfillment of this prophecy in Isaiah 66. It is the eternal righteous city in the kingdom of heaven that so many of your NDE's guests have already confirmed.
The modern sate of Israel today has nothing at all to do with any future prophecy except the judgment on all mankind on the last day.
The reason the Jews rejected Jesus is because they were expecting Him to lead an earthly army & kingdom. God tells us in many many places that was not the plan.
The prize is the eternal city not an earthly wicked city of this world, no matter what people call themselves.

Deuteronomy 18:20-22 quoted in this video shows us that God gives the prophecies and they come to pass just as He says to those contemporary people of that time that He spoke to. History has testified that all these prophecies have come to pass.
It is modern 'prophetic ideology' that teaches future dispensation for the modern state.
All of Christendom did not believe or teach this modern theology until John Nelson Darby & the Scofiled reference bible with it's dispensation POV teaching in all the footnotes. This began mid 1800's.
Other than this very wrong understanding of these prophecies, I absolutely love and respect the way that you do understand that all those testimonies are actually backed up by the scriptures. The scriptures also prove what I am saying is the truth of God's word.

I had never heard of John Burke so I looked up his beliefs. One thing I read was that he believes in the authority of the Bible.
If that is true then he must reject any accounts of nde that contradict the holy scriptures.
We must be careful not to fall for the false teaching that we are all God's children and we all 'go to heaven.'
When the false teachers in the temple confronted our Lord Jesus Christ He called them 'children of the Devil.'
He also said of Judas it would be good if he had never been born (that implies he went to hell after his betrayal of Christ and suicide).
He also told the story of a rich man who died and went to hell.
Not all NDE are about heaven. Look up – 23 minutes in hell – by Bill Wise. Also, look up Howard Storm.
Jesus says – unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
He also says – you must be born again (from above by the Holy Spirit).
He says the way is narrow that leads to eternal life and few find it but the way is broad that leads to destruction.
So we can believe what the Son of God and the scriptures tell us or we can believe what NDE people tell us if it contradicts what Christ or the scriptures say. May God help each of us to discern the truth.

When I was a child riding in the car with my parents, I would look at the fields and wish I were running through those fields in bliss. It was such a different thought. I believe I had memories of Heaven in those thoughts and other specific thought experiences.

I love hearing these, my only doubt (not a doubt of Jesus, but of what NDEs are), is many of these seem to not be aligned with what the Bible says, as I understand it anyways . A lot of these ends up with people eventually being saved from the darkness or what have you, the Bible says the wide road leads to hell. In my interpretation this means that many peoples final destination will be there. I know hell wasn’t created for humans, but that’s just where my headspace is at. So, how do so many people get redirected. I hope this is the case tho.
Also, what about the NDEs that people don’t claim to see a god, and what about those claiming to of seen a god that is not Christ? Wouldn’t they immediately be redirected to the abyss if Jesus is the only way to the father?

The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are three separate beings who are one in purpose. The triune God is not biblical.

John thank you for your podcasts they are very interesting. I never believed in any form of NDE but after watching many of the interesting episodes I now watch them often. One of such people that provoked my interest was Mikey Robinson. I wonder if you have talked to him. Thank you for your great efforts.
I too have had a near death experience in 1974. In that same year many things happened in my life. My best friend died then revealed himself in a dream. He had been trying to warn me the night he died. I was across the bay sitting on the beach of our local resort when I heard the gun shots. Shortly after, I married. Then everything he had been trying to tell me came flooding into my mind but it was too late.
If the love of God is universal for all people of all time, then all have been chosen for a particular destiny, a particular contribution to the spiritual journey of mankind. What most Jews and Christians seem to overlook is the roll played by the Persians and the Zoroastrian religion in the religion of God. The Persian King Cyrus the Great is referred to by Isaiah as the Anointed of God, meaning a Messiah due to his freeing of the Jews in Babylon and giving them the funds to rebuild their temple in Jerusalem. King Cyrus was a follower of the prophet Zoroaster, probably the first monotheistic religion in history. It's also interesting that Zoroastrian priests showed up with gifts for the baby Jesus. These were the Magi which were Zoroastrian priests. And Zoroastrians were expecting other prophets to appear. My guess is that they believed that Jesus was the one they were expecting, but were not believed when they returned to Persia.
One of the greatest revelations of NDE's is the knowledge that our physical bodies are like costumes worn in a dramatic play. The traditional Christian belief in the resurrection of this physical body isn't what actually happens. We can apparently appear in the heavenly realm looking as we do now, typically looking about 30 years old. Our costume is not who we are.
One of the prophecies concerning the expectation of the Messiah is that He will be assisted by the return of Elijah who reportedly was taken to heaven in a flaming chariot. This was the expectation of the Jews at the time of Jesus, and He was asked if Elijah had returned as promised. His answer, which apparently was not convincing, was that John the Baptist was Elijah. This shows that Jesus' understanding of prophecy was not literalistic. John the Baptist did not fly down from heaven. He was apparently the return of certain spiritual qualities associated with Elijah.

There is a way to understand how Christian, Zoroastrian, Hindu and Buddhist religions can be understood and appreciated as one process from the one true God. Imagine God as the sun, the Source of Light and Life. Jesus is a Perfect Mirror reflecting this Light (Holy Spirit) to humanity in a meaningful form for the people of His time. When they looked into the Mirror of Jesus they could see the Light of God in a form that wouldn't blind them but would nourish their souls. We can also see Moses, Zoroaster, Krishna and Buddha as Divine Mirrors reflecting the same God to the people of their times in a manner consistent with their capacities and needs.
When Jesus said, "Before Abraham was, I am," He was speaking of the Spiritual Light manifested in Jesus, not the human being Jesus who was born 2,000 years ago.
About 8 million people now believe that another Perfect Mirror has appeared in the 19th century named Baha'u'llah (Glory of God) who was born in Persia (Iran) in 1817. His followers are called Baha'is and consist of people from all religious backgrounds, or none, and are striving to bring about the unity of the human race, Baha'u'llah's stated mission, the unity of religion and world peace. Baha'u'llah wrote over 100 books as a scripture tailored to the present stage of mankind. Because of His teachings Baha'u'llah was opposed by both the religious and government authorities, was tortured and exiled from His homeland to Baghdad (near ancient Babylon) and ultimately imprisoned by the Ottoman Turks in what is now Acho, Israel in 1868. From there He wrote tablets to the leading Kings and Rulers, including the Pope, announcing Who He was and calling them to arise to reform the world spiritually and socially. He described the earth as one country and mankind its citizens. These documents are all online (bahai.org) for those interested, as well as much of His writings in English and other languages.
When I first read Dr. Moody's book "Life After Life", I was amazed at how NDE's matched Baha'u'llah's description of what happens at death. The soul moves on to the infinite heavenly realms which are beautiful beyond description. We're created to love and learn whether in this world or the ones to come.
