My Take on NDEs:
I believe our senses are naturally restricted while we're alive—limited by the physical brain. But when the brain begins to shut down or die, it’s like those restrictions lift. Our perception might expand or "upgrade," which could explain why people experience things like out-of-body sensations or vivid visions. After that heightened state, consciousness may fade completely, leading to a deep void or unconsciousness.
Great stuff! Thank you.
I don't want afterlife.
I only didn't understand why he said a part of him still wishes finding a physiological cause
Always ironic to hear people saying they lived in a non-religious scientific household when science is only possible because of God. Can’t separate them.
These people only got on the front porch for "it is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgement."
Very informative discussion. However, I am left with more questions than answers.
1 in 20 people have has an NDE? 😮
I think he called Tim, Tom at the beginning.
I so appreciate Tim's thoughtfulness and educated questions! What a pleasure to listen to this conversation! I'm a big fan of Dr. Greyson, thank you for having him on your podcast.
I just think that Dr Bruce Grayson is one of our greatest scientists but I believe that it seems like you have to have a matter before you can have any consciousness but I've had very detailed obese but I believe that my second body that I was going out of was made out of some type of matter it was just my feeling
Buddha said (2500 y.ago) that he (and other advanced monks) could create "manokaya" intentionally by act of will. This literally means "body-mind" and often translated as "mind-made-body". He also said there are some deities with such bodies.
I'm a Pediatric Hospice RN. When I worked in a 10 bed hospice inpatient unit many of our children mostly ages 8-12 that were not heavily medicated would see what would look like greys but their heads were thin, not wide. Some of the children would see them at the same time doing the same things. I never did see them. Some children enjoyed them and interacted with them, others just watched them and would respond to them and some children were frightened and tried to hide from them. At the time I thought they were skinny spirits for children, I knew nothing about UFOs or aliens.
The facility closed due to funding after 5 years. They would describe the beings the same, even children in private rooms with no interaction with other children. Most of our children lived less than 2 weeks so we had the children end stage. Who were they and why were they there, I don't know. Told this on JeffMera episode title: Pediatric Hospice Nurse. I can't post the link here
Very good interview, however, I did not feel the interviewer laughing all the way through appealing.
Philosophical Materialism indoctrination is false, mind and Consciousness is Conceptual by Nature or Separate from the Brian NDE are Supernatural experiences it will never be explained on Philosophical Materialism.
those experiences happen AFTER YOU WAKE UP , NOT DURING YOUR BRAIN IS OUT !!!
that's the little problem people don't understand , it DID NOT HAPPEN …
the brain is like a pipe system that stays open when the brain looses consciousness … ,
when you're OUT , you ARE OUT , nothing happens ,
the experience gets MADE BY YOUR BRIAN >>> AFTER YOU WAKE UP !
your brain makes up a nice story to connect to LOST TIME ,
but NOTHING HAPPENED … AT ALL .
The integration guidelnes for NDEs and psychedelics are practically identical.

Around 18:00, this 'type' of person also explains some (not all) that jump into fringe groups/identities at extreme levels.
I liked it!!!!
Scientific studies supporting OBEs as brain-based illusions: Blanke et al., 2002, Nature, Blanke & Mohr, 2005, Brain Research Reviews, De Ridder et al., 2007, Cortex, Brugger et al., 1997, Neuropsychologia, Arzy et al., 2006, Neuron, Braithwaite et al., 2011, Cortex, Lenggenhager et al., 2007, Science, Petitmengin et al., 2009, Consciousness and Cognition, Devinsky et al., 1989, Neurology, Kondziella et al., 2019, Brain Communications, and on and on and on. These are all laboratory or clinical studies with controls, neuroimaging, or direct cortical stimulation.
Collecting anecdotal stories for 30+ years isn't scientific given Greyson's hypothesis that the brain is "a filter". What's his empirical evidence to support this, anecdotal subjective story telling? (lol). To my knowledge he has never attempted to falsify his own hypothesis, even once. His research on the after effects of NDEs is his greatest (and only) contribution to REAL science, and his "Greyson-Scale", but it's in no way connected to the field of neuroscience, more like a social science, the field of psychology or philosophy. He is yet to present his empirical evidence to the world that NDEs are more than a brain phenomenon – and we've been waiting for over three decades now, and nothing.
Fantastic interview, Tim!
I had to stop listening. The host is so cynical and arrogant and so suspicious if his fellow man, I think he has other things to learn. He's not ready for this.
I have been daed vor 6 minutes while having a heart transplantation. There was just nothing !!! I just went to sleep and woke up ! If the doc didn´t tell me that I was dead for 6 minutes, I didn´t even realise !!!! To me, death is the same state as being not born !
Many times, people who have had NDEs, confirm that it was a pre-birth arrangement.
Thanks tom! 2:00
Why does the interviewer talks so weird
❤ Here is a seed of love for today, travelling across the world. “I invite my soul to be with me and guide me”… say it often and feel the change. Feel the growth of a your seed in the ground of life.
Every age has its answer. This one is travelling around the world now. Simply say it whenever you wish.
“I invite my soul to be with me and guide me”… and then listen quietly.
And when it works for you, send it on to someone else.
There are too many meaningless interruptions by the interviewer. It's not a good contribution.
As a physicist this is blowing my mind. I feel like the theories and explanations, even experiments, that I once held to be my foundation are being shaken. This video and NDEs are not the only thing that have led up to this. I am starting to have a lot of sincere belief in the Bible after watching Joel Kramer (Expedition Bible), Hugh Ross, Gary Habermas, and others. I would never have thought there would be so much more than what we see. God almighty is there, his word and prophecies are true and coming true.
For anyone that hasn’t seen the Netflix special, the OA limited series. Do yourself a favor binge watch it. You won’t be disappointed, except for the fact that they canceled the continuation of the series.
It's reassuring to know that the overwhelming majority of reported NDEs are positive and even euphoric. Have there been any studies that correlate negative or horrific NDEs to earthly behavior, i.e., is there any evidence of a "hell" in the afterlife?
I accidentally left my body the first time I attempted self hypnotism at 15 yo. I knew nothing of it and it scared me. My first thought was, what if I can't find my way back? At which point I snapped back.
