Did you ever think that maybe it has nothing to do with the body at all? Yeah. Brain and heart activity can now be measured, but consciousness is separate. Soul/spirit is separate. The body is just a vessel for this lifetime. Science is too young to understand at this point. It still has a way to go.

People explain away NDEs as the brain's way of coping with its demise or making the process easier for the person. If so, why does it consistently result in seeing dead loved ones or a seeing bunch of people in white surrounding you? Or give the patient a 3D aerial view of the operating room and what goes on around them? Dr Holden clearly points out that the brain does not function in this phase and, more importantly, that we only assume consciousness resides exclusively in the brain.

People will do anything to try and sell you on their beliefs whether they’re true or not. Religion is for people who just can’t accept facts because they either lack the cognitive ability to separate fantasy from reality or can’t cope with not understanding something so they turn to religion that says it can explain it all and their proof is “trust me bro”

If the brain isn’t functioning, where is the memory of the near death experience “stored”? And how is it that the brain is able to retrieve the memory, and that a FMRI can isolate the process of retrieval?
We can dream a day worth of adventure in 3 minutes – who says time ticks at the same rate for the dying, and who says the dream stage lasts the whole cardiac arrest?

It's hard to believe that brain cells only have 20 seconds of fuel between refills while a kidney keeps going for about 20 minutes and your hair doesn't even know you're dead for hours. Brains, man. They're like Magic Jell-O.
The brain would have no evolutionary reason to produce a death hallucination. The entire point of evolution is to keep us alive, it wouldn't evolve a mechanism to make death less scary.
