Bible says that we have all sinned and are less perfect than God. In Romans chapter 3 verses 23 it states that For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. To sin means literally to miss the mark of God's perfection. We can try to do our best to live right and do good things but we will fail to be perfect. Sin as defined in the bible is often something as simple as envy, pride, anger, lust, or unwholesome thoughts.
The Wages Of Sin Is Death
Romans chapter 6 verses 23 says that for the wages of sin is death. What does this mean? This means that because we have broken God's laws, we must pay the penalty for our sin. If you commit a crime, you cannot simply appear in court and tell the judge that you were sorry and would never do it again. You would still be required to pay the penalty for breaking the law. God's word tells us that the wages or penalty that must be patfor your sim is death; which would be spiritual seperation from God forever in hell. We have a sin debt to pay, and paying it ourselves results in spiritual death.
Heaven Will Be A Perfect Place
Man must be perfectly righteous to go to heaven as shown in Revelation chapter 21 verses 27 " And there shall in no wise way enter into heaven anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie, but they which are written in the Lambs book of life" .If there was even one sin in heaven there would be death . Heaven would have the same problems we experience on earth. Consequently, a person cannot get into heaven with even one sin. There is absolutely nothing you can do to obtain the sinless perfection God requires for eternal life.
No Amount Of Good Works Can Get Us To Heaven
Many people think that trying to be good, being religious, stopping bad habits, or starting Good ones will qualify them to enter Heaven. Bible says in Ephesians chapter 8 verses 9 that "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God: not of works , lest any man should boast".Think about it for a moment. If we have to be perfect to get into Heaven, and we have already sinned, no amount of "Good works" will ever make us perfect. We have already failed and are disqualified. But God gifts eternal life to us because he loves us. Grace wipes out our sin debt. but how?
Jesus Christ Died In Your Place, Making Complete Payment For Your Sin
In the bible the Gospel is clearly explained in First Corinthians chapter 15 verses 3 and 4 which is quoted as "Moreover brethren I declare unto you the Gospel, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures".This is the beauty of the gospel. Because God loves you, he sent His Son, Jesus Christ(God in the flesh) to earth to take your place and make the complete payment for all your sin. Three days later, he came back from the dead proving the payment was accepted by God the Father. I am sure you have heard that before -Jesus died for our sins but do you understand that he died for your sins and died in your place?
All We Can Do To Recieve Everlasting Life Is To Believe In Jesus Christ As Our Saviour
The Bible states in John chapter 3 verses 16 that"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". Just before dying Jesus said on the cross "it is finished". Nothing can be added to it, and nothing can be taken from it. It's complete. All you must do to be saved from hell and have everlasting life in heaven is to believe Jesus Christ is the Lord who payed for all your sins. Receive Christ as your personal saviour.
