I am listening to your take on how the Orisa stories do not paint them as saints and how they do not represent the "standard for HOLINESS", but have you ever read the Bible? Everyone that is a prominent figure in the bible also DO NOT REPRESENT THE STANDARD FOR HOLINESS! The bible is not a textbook that can be understood in its full essence by reading and translating it literarily, same as any truly spiritual book on the planet, including IFA. These stories represent deeper meanings, and if you reduce them to their literal meaning only, you remove the wisdom. So if you are going to criticize the a tradition with a limited understanding, do the same thing with the bible and lets see if you truly believe in what you claim. Also, there are thousands of churches around the world, if I have a wrong experience in one of them, and just the entire bible as evil based on that, would it be right? There’s a lot of misinformation in this video! Also a lot of generalisations. In Ifa spirituality we don’t liken angles to orisha they are two completely different and separate things. Neither do we encourage people to convert. Also you haven’t talked about initiation. Not everyone that follows Ifa/is a devotee has an alter. I could go on but very subjective
Ive realized all these groups, always have this negative element to it and that it's more about what's inside oneself. Some answers you have to find alone, because wherever there's hierarchies , there's plenty of unnecessary corruption, opposition etc. Great to see more people speaking on their experiences with spirituality, cults, religions, and all other high control groups

I grew up Christian. Baptist more specifically. I loved my church, but as grew older, the less I understood what was being taught to me. Eventually, I aligned myself as more agnostic. I still felt that a higher power existed, but I no longer focused on building a spiritual relationship with one. I followed my moral compass as best as I could. While I may have taken some of the Bible's teachings into how I moved through the world, I wanted to be more conscious of being a good person for the sake of being good and not because of a doctrine. It wasn't until earlier this year that I slowly started to gain more interest in yoruba culture and the Ifa teachings. I'm still in the process of learning, but I feel a divine connection like I've never felt before, even if it's still very faint. I hope to grow in my knowledge and want to preserve this part of my culture, even if it doesn't lead to me being an actual initiate.
All that being said, I don't think I could ever talk about Christianity with the same level of malice that she carries for African spirituality. Not because I believe in it, but because I can understand a person's ability to find understanding in a faith even if I don't. We all just want to live life and hope that we're following the right direction.

Sister you are powerful and I thank The Most High God In Christ for your ministry and witness… I share a similar story as you and after 24 years as a “prodigal son” so too speak, I encountered the Holy Spirit who cleared my mind from such confusion that crippled my faith in Jesus. Back in the Y2K, I lost my way and went down the conscious common rabbit hole… I still consider myself a part of the conscious community to a degree.. however, any part of it that comes into conflict with my new found faith, I now out right reject it. Thankfully, that 20 plus year rabbit hole experience, has empowered me to speak the language of my woke brothers and sisters, and in so doing, it has helped me be a better witness with understanding as a Christian. I think the problem is many people are still Christians or if they have denounced Christianity, they have not fully deconstructed their beliefs. So you then go to this completely separate practice and still try to understand it through a Christian perspective. How does that make sense? Most of you should just stick to what you know and are comfortable with.
My question to you sis is , how are angels created . According to your response I will understand where you are in spirituality.

Hello Nefernitty, I am currently watching your video. I'm glad I clicked, I've been feeling called to a particular orisha and I feel like maybe they've been trying to communicate to me. Currently, I've been going through spiritual growth in life but I am a catholic. I am Afro Mexican so of course, there is this need to feel connected to African roots if your Afro-Latino. I have been curious but cautious. I don't know if I'm going to delve further into my curiosity but I hope I am steered the right way spiritually.
