If individuality is an illusion created by the mind, then who or what reincarnates?
Eckhart suggests that the answer to reincarnation can be found through observation. For example, you can observe reincarnation in yourself many times during the day when you identify with a thought. After all, the moment you completely associate your identity with the thought, you have forgotten your essential nature as consciousness and have incarnated into a thought form.

I’m a universe thought of myself 🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am curious. So if life goes on after dead, can we choose not to reincarnate? If we fail to be awaken in this life, in Bhuddhism, its like a punishment that we need to reincarnate again and again.
I was eating chili con carne as Eckhart explained the word "reincarnate." His analogy made me laugh.
What I like most about Tolle, is his rare soft way of speaking. Especially the slow speed and the deliberately very long breaks. Those pleseant pauses, where you feel connected and consious, and really can let the underlying message sink in. Doesnt happen often in our lives. Especially not on TV, were people are talking as quickly as possibel, totally avoiding pauses, and often 4-5 people in the studio, shouting simultaniously, competing getting heard. In worst cases, the speak is overdubbed by loud nonsupporting noise, from machine music(Muzak). Am I just getting old and out of time, or does anyone else feel the same, listening to Eckhart?
Being alive is super weird. Being human is super weird. I loose it internally all the time because my mind cant grasp all this. Universe, being human, thoughts, relationships, birth, death. I mean this is really a lot to go through and to understand or to accept. 😅 I'm the universe. We all are the universe. My mind is blown every day.
A secondary self will never be present as it does not exist. LIFE, WHAT IS, the ALONE ONE present here, now, is already at ITSELF. CONSCIOUS REALITY never dreams or vacates ITSELF. THAT WHICH IS, is ALL THAT IS. PURE CONSCIOUSNESS never dreams. LIFE is NOW, so only NOW is alive. There IS no dream, hence no dreamer, no belief, hence, no believer, no lie, hence, no liar. There is no approach to NOW and no one to approach IT. CONSCIOUSNESS is not in need of awakening. IT is changeless, formless, boundless, complete, whole, ALL. ALL cast no reflection. ALL means all, period!
The arguments for reincarnation don't seem to answer what consciousness or form is carried over into the afterlife – is it the man of 30 in the prime of life, or his demented husk at age 90, & what of all the life experience in between ?
If I were the consciousness of the universe (ok – maybe i am), I would not want to ever stop reincarnating again. I would enjoy again and again experiencing another illusion. So I don't think the universe will ever stop reincarnating itself. It's not "me" reincarnating. The universal consciousness is just having eternal fun.
Past lives and reincarnation is well documented. The core qualities of the individual is conserved by all accounts even though the personality is discarded between lives. So I'm not sure I agree with this take of us not being individual. Individuals as part of a great cooperative whole is my understanding of our existence.

My mother is currently on life support this has been for a number or days tonight or tomorrow she will lose her form. I allow grief to be observed and I allow presence amongst my grief. She is not gone but is ascending to a higher consciousness this gives me a measure of peace in a difficult time. Thank you Eckhart for being my teacher though I have never met you I feel you are an angel placed here to help humanity.
He has not answered the question. Like many "gurus" that have experienced some awakenings and they pretend to be enlightened. But so many people just drink every word as the truth without questioning.

Just a friendly question:
How do you actually know that we are just dreams?
Surely the consciousness can not tell you that as a truth, because you are only yourself a dream by the same consciousness!!
And where is the soul?
It is something I completely miss in your "zen master" world view of truth – are you saing there are no souls at all in this universe, and we have no soul?
What Tolle's suggested view of reincarnation misses is that, given we are each a dream of the universal consciousness, this universal consciousness has a purpose in creating these dreams which goes beyond each of us coming to realise that we are part of the universal consciousness … because if that was the only purpose then why create us as dreams in the first place? The wider purpose, I suggest, is that the universal consciousness is also evolving (is not an unchanging entity, and is simply the manifest aspect of God whose other aspect is beyond space and time) – and so needs us to have these dream experiences which are then absorbed as developmental 'food' for this evolution. In this respect I recommend looking at the concept of a dipolar God, as conceived by the philosopher Alfred North Whitehead.
What a lovely thought, we are a dream of the conscious universe.
