One thing that brings me hope about this story, is that even when someone lives a life that would put them in a hellish state in the afterlife, they may have a heart change and not end up in the hells, if they choose to repent and forgive and be forgiven and let in the love of the Lord. He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Pediatrician Melvin Morse has shared the case of 63-year-old Olga Gearhardt of San Diego, California. In 1988, a large part of Gearhardt’s heart was attacked by a virus that impaired its function. She was put on a heart transplant list, and a suitable heart became available in early 1989. Most of her family were at the hospital for her operation, but her son-in-law, who was terrified of hospitals, didn't go and stayed home. During the heart transplant, unexpected complications arose. At 2:15 am, the transplanted heart suddenly stopped beating altogether. Gearhardt was clinically dead for some time, and it took hours of resuscitation to get her new heart going steadily again. The next morning, the medical staff told the family that the operation had gone exceptionally well; they were not told that Gearhardt had died during the operation.
The wife of the son-in-law who'd stayed home called him to share the good news. He told her that he already knew that his mother-in-law was doing well because he'd heard it from her personally. The previous night at 2.15 am, he'd witnessed the apparition of his mother-in-law standing at the foot of his bed. At first he had thought the operation simply had not taken place and had asked how she was. She had said, ‘I am fine, I’m going to be all right. There is nothing for any of you to worry about.’ After that, she had disappeared as suddenly as she had appeared. Her son-in-law had not been afraid of the apparition, but he immediately got up and wrote down what time he had seen her appear and what she had said. When Gearhardt regained consciousness, her first words were, ‘Did you get the message?’ She told her family that she had had a ‘strange dream’ during the operation. In it, she had left her body and for a couple of minutes watched the doctors who were working on her. After that, she saw her family sitting in the waiting room. She tried to make contact with them but was unsuccessful. In frustration, she decided to go to her daughter’s house some thirty miles away from the hospital and seek a connection with her son-in-law. When she got there, she had stood at the foot of his bed and told him that everything would be all right in the end.
Melvin Morse and his writing assistant Paul Perry interviewed Gearhardt's family members and concluded that their stories were consistent with each other, and showed no discrepancies.
This is very interesting does Swedenborg also talks about people dying going on the other side of the veil I’m just curious I remember when my grandma was 11 years old she had a best friend she loved very much and one night she dreamt about her friend and her friend said she had to go and my grandma ask can I come with you?” And her friend said no and it’s not her time yet she woke up the same night the parent of her friends called her parents and said she died the same night another one is my friend in my school when her grandpa died he had an old clock and the same day he died the clock stopped at the exact moment it happened I remember I saw Jesus in one of my dreams it’s was in a dark room I don’t remember his face but he just looked at me and didn’t say anything

OH, this is an AMAZING account/explanation for why whe need to develop peace in our hearts in this world, rather than submit to our passions. It's difficult here – OH YES it's difficult – but here we do have means to get there. And Christianity tells us that where we can't for as much as we tried, we are forgiven our failures.

What makes me so mad about NDE hell stories is JESUS ALWAYS saves you. If we stop preaching hell and start preaching jesus. The false reality of hell will fade away in time. The church created hell to scare people. The church has sent more people to hell than saving them.

Love your interpretations of Swedenborg and how you relate them to modern NDEs. How hard it must have been for Swedenborg in his day to speak of the things he learned, to an audience still so steeped in ancient views of religion. Many still are, I guess, but there are also many more of us who have been studying NDEs and what they teach us. How slow humanity's progress seems at times.
