So mr. soyinka, your dead mother who professed to be Christian, was, in your own opinion, a fool?

Jesus diidnt come into this world to start a religion or some spiritual enlightenment. Jesus came to restore man back to the place of sonship with God the Father.

How could it be human imagination when someone said he/ had a personal encounter? Music can be a product of experience, observation or imagination. It's wrong for prof to hold that religion songs is a thing of human imagination.

This is not surprising at all. Excellence is most time in tandem with sincere and honest ideals. We are blessed with your person – Prof.

Arabs conquered and forced people to became Muslim, others forced to convert Christinity.Religion is ideology. But believes are still ours.

Guys, has this man's (Soyinka's) views provides any solution to the problem of human society?
Lemme just consider what he's said as his personal opinions, which are extremely vague and absolutely unlikely to fix society.
One must truly marvel at his emptiness.

Religion is the most dangerous ideology especially the Abrahamic religions. Christo is the manifestation of pure love within your emotion. It is a part of lifeforce that animates all biological and natural non biological substance.

I don’t completely agree on his point of view on religion. I however agree on the dangers of religion and what is happening as an effect of that. let me clarify so you understand; religion is the believe and practice of spiritual activities to a supernatural deity which is generally bigger than self by worshiping and prayers. In my case as a Christian is God (Yaweh) 🙏, the one and only true God. On the other hand, Spirituality is dependent on religion and cannot exist without religion, because spirituality questions and seeks to answer the existential questions like why we are here (purpose), how we came about (origin) and where we are headed (fate/destiny). Religion is the answer to these questions, I speak on behalf of the true Christianity, and from that perspective, we need to know these answers can only be answered by your maker. Only a creator of something defines its purpose, so while we shouldn’t be worrying really about the how, we should focus on the why and where and function given the rules set by the creator and everything should be fine, but you know we break these laws and such suffering is upon us. Now there is the case of bad religion and dangers of modified versions of Christianity and other religions which all sum down to abuse of religion. You need to know the abuse of anything makes it bad, that’s why evil exist. It is the abuse of good. And so to conclude; religion is good and I’m specific to my case; Christianity because It is the true religion (and I know there are some religions that worship otherwise/false gods that’s another topic on itself) and the abuse of religion is what makes it bad and that what can make you think religion is bad, but it’ is not, thanks and be blessed.

soyinka says esu is a trickster whom he has interacted with and he speaks in a non-condemning fashion of the character. How can anyone trust such a man?

  35. #35

Waooo what a talented being. Some of his views is more on theocentric psychology. Free positive thinking without the complexity of religion. The human is microcosmos and actually need any religion. Every thing is present in humans with little development they can create or achieve anything. The religion was brought by unseen beings to slow the scientific development of humans. Religion don't profit the followers but only the leaders.
