ithakazelo (Totems) provide a lot of information about who someone is, where they are from and those who came before them, being forefathers. Using a family tree as a map can greatly help in distinguishing between groups, patterns and trends that have been existing over the the different generations. Saying ones praise song is a sign of self identity and pride.
