6 months agoThe way Howard addresses "His works weren't acceptable to God" could have been explained a little more thorough in my opinion in what has been filmed of him. Here is how a believer is to understand what Howard would have agreed with. (I spoke with Howard for nearly three hours over the phone years back, asking him if he could give greater illumination as to WHY he felt the Lord wouldn't accept him into heaven in his out of body experience).
Here is what Howard told me in that phone conversation: "We are not and cannot be saved by our good works. But we are saved to DO good works. How then can we get "saved" so we can "do" good works? First off, we must understand what "Saved" means. Saved means we are forgiven of our sins by God so we qualify for heaven. It also means that we are given God's imputed righteousness to be as holy as He is holy … otherwise we would not be accepted in heaven either. By our BELIEVING – TRUSTING – that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ is what grants us forgiveness of our sins and grants us the imputed holiness of God (See: 2 Cor. 5:21). It is AFTER our believing this that the Holy Spirit then motivates us to begin to act as Christlike as we can (Yet thank God for 1 John 1:9!!!). Walking in OBEDIENCE ("good spiritual works" more importantly stated) to New Testament commands. (Scriptures correctly interpreted; wisely applied)."
As sort of a P.S. to this topic: Good spiritual works is what born again believers will be rewarded for at the Bema Seat Of Christ. Salvation is FREE. We must ALWAYS remember that. But becoming engaged in "Good works" costs! Our sinful flesh does NOT easily desire to keep many of the New Testament commandments. Yet as we do … God will reward us for it (that's what Jesus is getting at in Matthew 6:19-21), and the Holy Spirit will help us if we are SERIOUS at working to be obedient to Christ's (GOD's!) commandments.
Condensed summary: We are NOT saved BY our good works. We're saved by BELIEVING – TRUSTING. But once we ARE saved, it is very important (WISE) to DO good works.

6 months agoEveryone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10vs13. Remember that only Jesus Christ is the door to eternal life. Through prayer we can enter that door and receive Him as Lord and Saviour.

6 months agoJesus gave us a gift only he could earn,,,,,,,a holiness from above by him, not from below, if we had to then try and earn it or keep it afterwards,,,,it would be a oxymoron as NONE COULD, it is all of him, and you do not mix your self works or anything with what he did,

6 months agoIt's interesting that no one who has an NDE ever obtains useful information from the past. Like an invaluable invention that was suppressed long ago. Or where a treasure is buried so they can pay to save lives. Or revealing who a murderer is to get justice. They just seem to spew religious platitudes.

6 months agoIn all honesty, I have listened to his most recent testimony. I don't think Howard shared your view of the gospel. I did not hear one ounce of grace in his message. And I don't think I heard the name off Christ once in his 5 point message. It was all about our works and efforts.

6 months agoThe problem with most Christian’s is the they have subcontracted their faith to what one has been taught in the churches, And haven’t read the Bible from cover to cover Malachi 3:6 God is the same yesterday,today and forever. God has never changed. Read your bible. Most Christians don’t know that they are Israel read Romans 11:16-44 you are grafted into Israel. Only 1 tribe was Jewish there are 12 tribes. And Yeshua is coming back for the house of Israel and Judah. Thank God that he allows us to be adopted into the family as Israel.

6 months agoI remember first hearing Brother Howard Pittman at my church back in around 1996 and thrn again at our church around 1999. I was tempted to believe God to be more accepting of my self-serving in a way. But the more I read the Bible, the more I saw God's love in a more true way. He IS love. But not as we design love to be in our detachment from the Scriptures and the Gospels. To assume God does not judge is to have closed eyes to what is written in the Bible. When we claim we accept Jesus into our lives, do we mean we only accept the false narrative of a hugging God Who loves without judging? He does love. He does judge. We will recognize God's truth in a person's message if we just crack open the King James, New King James, or Modern English Versions of the Bible and read everything centered around Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. No matther where we read from Genesis through Revelation, if we always reflect back reading the first 4 of the New Testament, we can find Jesus teaches what we will read in other books. I appreciate being able to hear Brother Howard every few years
